Apple TV+ brings the true stories of Mexico's first female police force onscreen in the upcoming "stylish crime drama" Women in Blue season 1, aka Las Azules, which is scheduled to hit streaming on Wednesday, July 31.
Inspired by true events sometime in 1971, the series revolves around the theme, "Sometimes, the best man for the job is a woman," featuring the women who defy the norms to become Mexico's first female police force only to realize that their squad is nothing but a publicity stunt distracting the public from a brutal serial killer.
Directed by Alfonso Pineda Ullo and Fernando Rovzar, Barbara Mori, Ximena Sariñana, Amorita Rasgado and Natalia Tellez form the unlikely squad of four core women in the series.
When is Women in Blue season 1 going to be released?
Expect a back-to-back debut of Women in Blue season 1 on Wednesday, July 31, exclusively on Apple TV+, with the first two episodes of the 10-part series coming out that day.
A new episode will be released on the streaming platform weekly until the season 1 finale on September 25, with each episode clocking around an hour.

What is the storyline of Women in Blue season 1?
Per the description in the Women in Blue season 1 official trailer, published on June 17, the events in the series are set in 1971. It's a story of four women who, despite the "ultraconservative norms" of the time, join the first-ever female police force in Mexico.
However, they soon discover that the one-of-a-kind group they are trying to build is only a cover designed to distract the media and the public from the real danger — a serial killer.
However, with the body count growing, the four women — Maria, Gabina, Angeles, and Valentina — work together in secret to achieve the one thing that male cops have never been able to achieve — bring the serial killer to justice.
