Over the years, the Yellowstone saga has been no stranger to the icons of the industry. While the cast of the original show has been led by Kevin Costner, its prequels have also involved stars like Sam Elliott, Helen Mirren, and Harrison Ford, among others.
In an article dated August 1, 2024, TVLine reported that another spin-off of the series was in the works. Further, stars like Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, and Patrick J. Adams were set to star in it. As per the report, Beau Garrett is also supposed to join the cast.
Yellowstone has had a successful 5-season run. The first part of season 5, consisting of 8 episodes, was released on November 13, 2022. The next part of it, comprising 6 seasons, will be released on November 10, 2024, marking the conclusion of the storyline of the original series.

A few months back, Kevin Costner announced that he would not return for the second part of season 5. However, with the potential inclusion of several other popular faces, the world of Yellowstone has gotten some boost.
The next Yellowstone spin-off is tentatively titled The Madison
With the original series nearing the end of its storyline, an offshoot of it was already on the cards. It was formerly called 2024 and was supposed to star Matthew McConaughey in the lead role.
However, that project did not see the light of day. Instead, the offshoot has now been tentatively named The Madison, and it will most likely star Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, and Patrick J. Adams, among others. According to TVLine, the three actors are close to signing a deal with the project.
Talks are also on to rope Beau Garrett (famous for her roles in The Good Doctor, Firefly Lane) in for the project.
The decision to bring Kurt Russell into the Yellowstone universe is not surprising given the fact that the actor has performed in westerns like Tombstone (1993) and The Hateful Eight (2015). However, it is not yet known whether Russell would play the role originally created for McConaughey or if he would play a new character.
It is also not clear at this point if The Madison is a new spinoff or simply 2024 renamed.
As per TVLine, The Madison will be about a wealthy matriarch and her family as they leave New York City and go to Montana following the death of her husband and brother-in-law. Production for the spinoff will reportedly start towards the end of this month.
When will the spin-off be released?
As of yet, no official release date for the spin-off is yet available. The following table lists the various parts of the Yellowstone saga and their release dates.
As the table shows, since 2018, each year has seen either the release of new seasons or episodes of either the main series or its prequels. Thus, given the regularity at which the tale is presented on screen, a mid-2025 or an early-2026 release for the spinoff series seems likely.
How many spin-offs of the series have been released so far?
Two prequel spin-offs of the saga have been released so far. On December 19, 2021, the first two episodes of the 10-episode prequel 1883 were released. Starring Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill, among others, this series shows how the Dutton family came to settle on the ranch in Montana, which would eventually become the Yellowstone Ranch.
Chronologically, 1883 initiates the saga. The sequel of this series, 1923, takes the story forward, and is the second and last spin-off to have been released already. 1923 shows the Duttons’ struggles in the early days of the Great Depression.
A second season of 1923 is set to be released in the future. Additionally, another spin-off series, Yellowstone 6666, is also scheduled to be taken up by Paramount.
