The Bear season 4 has been green-lit for production, as reported by Deadline on March 14, 2024. While FX hasn't officially confirmed the news, reportedly at a virtual press conference on June 24, the cast alluded that they did shoot a few episodes of season 4, right after season 3.

This FX comedy-drama series centering around the titular fine-dining establishment has become one of the most popular and critically acclaimed shows on TV. Season 3 of the series was released on June 26, 2024, and it sets the stage for The Bear season 4.

The show is available for streaming on Hulu, FX, and Disney+ Hotsar. The official synopsis of the series reads:

"FX’s critically acclaimed series The Bear is about food, family and the insanity of the grind. It’s a losing battle every day in the restaurant business, and as Carmy pushes himself harder than ever and demands excellence from his crew, they do their best to match his intensity."

The synopsis further clarifies:

"Their quest for culinary excellence propels them to new levels and stresses the bonds that hold the restaurant together."

Season 3 of the series ends on a cliffhanger as Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) finds out that a much-awaited influential review of his restaurant is out. This review could either make or break the place's prospects. In addition to this, there are tensions among the characters that are left unresolved. The Bear season 4 will return with these.

What The Bear season 4 could be about?

The finale of season 3 of the series leaves ample plot and character elements that can be picked up by The Bear season 4. For instance, the finale teases that the review of The Bear in The Chicago Tribune is out. Carmy finds out about it after he has returned from the funeral dinner of Ever, another fine-dining establishment.

Earlier in season 3, Jimmy, Carmy's family friend and the one who is financially supporting The Bear at the moment, cautions Carmy saying that a negative review in an influential paper like The Chicago Tribune might result in the permanent closure of the place.

The finale does not fully reveal what exactly the review is like. However, random adjectives from the review are shown on the screen which hint at a mixed review, much to Carmy's frustration. The Bear season 4, among other things, will have to deal with the effects of this review of The Bear and its staff.

Over the three seasons, the professional relationship between Carmy and Sydney has been erratic. As the story progresses, Sydney becomes more and more upset at the fact that Carmy no longer consults with her before making important decisions, and does not value her presence and expertise enough.

Adding to this already brewing tension is the fact that Sydeny's skills in the kitchen have been spotted by the former Ever CDC Adam Shapiro. Now that Ever is closed, Shapiro is on his way to open his own restaurant and has offered Sydney the CDC role beside him.

As season 3 ends, Sydney is seen pondering about taking up the new offer since it promises her better control in the business and more pay, with a good health insurance plan too. Will Sydney finally leave Carmy and The Bear? This is the question The Bear season 4 will answer.

Besides these, there are other elements that The Bear Season 4 might shed some light on. For example, season 3 shows Natalie giving birth, and at the hospital, her tension with her mother Donna (Jamie Lee Curtis) eases a bit.

Donna even expresses regret about her past behavior. It remains to be seen if siblings Natalie and Carmy will be able to reconcile with their mother Donna in the coming season.

Speaking of reconciliation, Carmy is yet to apologize to Claire for his behavior during the walk-in refrigerator outburst in the finale of season 2. Claire is still hurt because of what she heard Carmy say out loud, and their relationship ended right there. The Bear season 4 might give this a closure.

Additionally, characters like Richie and Marcus need closure as well. Marcus has been struggling to cope with the grief over his mother's death. He also secretly loves Sydney. What will happen to Marcus if Sydney leaves The Bear?

Most importantly, The Bear season 4 will be about the future of The Bear itself. The upcoming season will show if the restaurant finally gets the run it has been hoping for, and what the people associated with it do to make it happen.

Deadline reported earlier this year that the filming for seasons 3 and 4 of the series would happen back-to-back. If that is the case, The Bear season 4 could possibly be released in the summer of 2025. However, it's yet to be officially notified by the creators.

The Bear is known for featuring cameos of other celebrities and even famous chefs. Season 4 might bring in some unexpected guests as well.

However, cast members like Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto, Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu, Abby Elliott as Natalie Berzatto, Lionel Boyce as Marcus Brooks, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richard "Richie" Jerimovich, among others, will reprise their respective roles in The Bear season 4.
