In an April 2023 conversation with Deadline, star Bryan Cranston clarified his previous comments on the Armchair Expert podcast about the impossibility of a third season, providing hope for the show's continuation.

He cleared the air by saying:

"My comment was I’m not sure that there could be or there is. There is some discussion. Showtime has indicated there is interest and we’re very proud to know that every episode in Season 2 increased in the audience from the previous week."

He also added:

"If it happens, fantastic but it’d have to be some great reason to keep expanding in this world and to find out where the allegiances are. I’d be very interested in producing that. I don’t know about being in it because my guy’s back in prison.”

This might be good news for people waiting to hear about the show's third season. However, for Bryan Cranston fans the new project, if it happens at all, might be a bit disappointing as the actor has revealed ambiguousness towards his character in the show in the future.
