Netflix is set to release Zero Day, an upcoming American political thriller series about the chaos of a global cyber attack. Created by Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Michael Schmidt, the six-episode series will premiere on February 20, 2025.
Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, the series brings together a cast headlined by Robert De Niro, and featuring Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, Joan Allen, Matthew Modine, and Angela Bassett.

Zero Day release date and plot
The conspiracy thriller will be released on Netflix on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The series consists of six hour-long episodes, all available for streaming on the same day.
While the exact plot of the TV series remains under wraps, it appears to be a psychological and cyber attack thriller focused on conspiracy theories and disinformation. The nature of the crisis that forces De Niro's character, the former U.S. president, to come out of retirement is still unknown.

The first official trailer of Zero Day
The first trailer for the upcoming Netflix series was released on January 22, 2025. In the trailer, President Mitchell, played by Angela Bassett, appoints George Mullen, portrayed by Robert De Niro, to the investigation team. “Congress has approved a special commission to track down anyone involved in this devastating attack,” Mitchell declares. Mullen asks, “You’re planning to detain people without warrants?” Mitchell responds, “Actually, you are.”

1) Robert De Niro as George Mullen
Robert De Niro, a two-time Academy Award-winning actor has delivered iconic performances in films such as Taxi Driver (1976), Raging Bull (1980), and Goodfellas (1990). His multiple collaborations with director Martin Scorsese have earned him his place in Hollywood history.
In the series, De Niro portrays George Mullen, a former U.S. president brought back into action amid a national crisis. A catastrophic cyberattack has resulted in widespread destruction and countless deaths. Mullen leads the Zero Day Commission, which is charged with identifying those responsible for the attack.

2) Jesse Plemons as Roger Carlson
American actor Jesse Plemons began his career as a child performer and is known for his role as Landry Clarke in the NBC drama series Friday Night Lights (2006). He later played Todd Alquist in the fifth season of Breaking Bad (2012) and reprised the role in its sequel film, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019).
Jesse Plemons takes on the role of Roger Carlson in the series.
3) Angela Bassett as President Mitchell
American actress Angela Bassett gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Tina Turner in What's Love Got to Do with It (1993), where she earned an Academy Award nomination. Bassett's career spans across films and series, including her roles in The Jacksons: An American Dream (1992), How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998), and Black Panther (2018).
In the upcoming Netflix series, Bassett plays President Mitchell, who assigns former president Mullen to oversee the commission addressing cyber attacks.
