Features analysis of New Balance AUDAZO x Numeric sneakers
New Balance is synonymous with classic sneakers and technical sports shoes, and its skateboarding range is one of the most dedicated lineups. Launched in December 2012, New Balance Numeric represents the Boston-based company’s foray into the skate footwear market.
Unlike traditional New Balance shoes, which are often identified by names, the Numeric range is distinguished by numbers. This approach underscores the line’s unique identity within the broader New Balance family.
Jamie Thomas, Black Box company founder, and professional skateboarder, collaborated with New Balance at the beginning of projects, and he mentioned that the heritage and integrity of New Balance are quite inspirational.
At the heart of this hybrid shoe is New Balance’s Fresh Foam midsole, which features approximately 3% bio-based content. This precision-engineered foam provides an ultra-cushioned, lightweight ride, ensuring comfort and responsiveness. The use of renewable resources in the foam’s composition underscores New Balance's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, making this shoe not only high-performing but also environmentally conscious.
Designed with both futsal and skateboarding in mind, the shoe boasts several features tailored for durability and protection. A deco stitch added to the vamp enhances reinforcement, while the extended toe box and internal toe case add protection during intense strikes and tricks. These elements ensure the shoe withstands the rigors of both sports, offering longevity and reliability.
The inclusion of overlays at the flex points allows for maximum mobility, ensuring that athletes experience zero distractions during gameplay or skate sessions. The heel counter with molded detailing adds to the shoe's structural integrity, providing support where it needs it most.
Constructed from a combination of suede, mesh, and textile, the upper is fortified with thickened suede overlays to enhance durability. This robust construction is complemented by a rubber toe-protect print, which ensures a flexible yet protected feel, adding an extra layer of durability against wear and tear.
The rubber indoor-specific outsole features a multi-directional tread pattern that delivers superior traction and durability, crucial for both futsal courts and skateparks. The foam-padded stretch tongue, adorned with a 3D printed performance logo, enhances comfort and style, making this shoe as visually appealing as it is functional.
The sneaker will hit the stores on May 24, 2024, with a price tag of $119.99.
