Nike has unveiled another iteration of the Air Peg 2K5 sneakers for women, continuing the legacy of the rich heritage of running shoes from the Oregon-based brand. The sneaker features an air unit, a lateral crash pad, and a distinctive look, making the model a coveted one in the running scene.

Features analysis of Nike Air Peg 2K5 "Phantom / Coconut milk" shoes
Nike Pegasus, a revolutionary running shoe line from the brand, has become coveted since its inception in 1983. The shoe was designed by Mark Parker and Bruce Kilgore, who showcased their design prowess with a nylon upper.
After an assortment of revolutionary iterations, the Nike Air Peg 2K5 was launched in 2005. The shoe garnered immense popularity when Bernard Lagat used to regularly train for 90 miles wearing the shoe. The brand thus intended to craft a running shoe that is distinctive from the rest. Thereby, it included the lateral crash pad to provide support to the serious runner.
The brand introduced the shoe as a "springy ride", further noting:
"A springy ride for every run. The Peg’s familiar, just-for-you feel returns to help you accomplish your goals. This version has the same responsiveness and neutral support you love, with a layered look inspired by early-aughts runners. Phantom and Coconut Milk hues come together with vibrant hits of Gym Red for a classic finish. A Waffle-inspired outsole pattern provides traction for the road and Nike Air cushioning helps soften your every step."
The Nike Air Peg 2K5 shoe features a mesh upper, layered with leather cutouts. The rubber outsole is extended towards the toe, accentuating the supporting flair. Meanwhile, the herringbone pattern of the outsole is incorporated with a red and white hue, creating better traction.
The blending of phantom and coconut white color creates most of the upper, while the gym red adds contrast to the subtle tone. On the midfoot, the herringbone design and the thick sole bring out a bulky outlook.
The minuscule swooshes at the toe and heel tab continue on the Nike Air Peg 2K5 sneakers, while a slightly larger swoosh in the red and black border is etched on the lateral side. Meanwhile, the branding is kept quite minimal on the shoe, etching at the heel and tongue. To enhance breathability, perforation appears on the mudguard and heel tab.
The notable technology of the Nike Air Peg 2K5 sneakers is the Air unit, infused at the midfoot that provides a cushioning experience to the wearer. On the other hand, the lateral crash pad ensures rearfoot stability during high-speed running.
The Nike Air Peg 2K5 has been a coveted sneaker due to the blending of the nostalgic flair of early models with contemporary trends. The previous iteration of this sneaker lineup in white and black is still available in the store for $150. The "Bicoastal and coconut milk" colorway, another iteration in the men's section, can be obtained via the SNKRS app.
Nike Air Peg 2K5 sneakers hit the shoe racks on April 19, 2024, and are available on the SNKRS app for $150.
