Stake-owned platform Kick has quickly become a big-game player within the live-streaming community. Despite being only a couple of years old, it has signed some of the biggest names within the content creation industry, including the likes of Adin Ross, Felix "xQc," Josh "YourRAGE" and Sergio Aguero.
However, Kick has also garnered a reputation for being the breeding ground of several controversies and feuds. This article lists five such streamer controversies that took place on the platform in 2024.
5 controversies involving Kick streamers in 2024
1) Adin Ross feud with Playboi Carti
Adin Ross, the most followed streamer on Kick, was preparing to host one of his most anticipated streams in February 2024 with Playboi Carti. However, the collaboration became controversial when the rapper charged hundreds of thousands of dollars (which was pre-agreed) only to leave the broadcast after just a few minutes.
Adin Ross later disclosed that his team and Playboi Carti's team had an off-camera dispute outside his house, with the rapper's team demanding the remaining payment (a total of $2 million had been promised). The duo has not collaborated since.
2) Konvy makes a death threat, gets banned
The second controversy on this list involves Steven "Konvy." It began last week (August 15, 2024) when Konvy accused Twitch streamer HateCaps of having "scammed" a significant amount of money from him.
The situation quickly escalated when Konvy shockingly called another banned streamer (Justxsngz), asking him to go to HateCaps' house and physically harm him. This blatant violation of the platform's terms of service led to Konvy’s ban soon after.
3) HeelMike and Zherka get perma-bans due to controversial stream
Notorious streaming duo Michael "HeelMike" and Jon "Zherka" faced a similar fate as Konvy earlier this year. The pair hosted a joint IRL stream in which they allegedly engaged in questionable behavior with underaged individuals. The duo were banned soon after, with Kick citing "Underage Endangerment" as the reason behind the descision.
BHelMike and Zherka have since appealed the decision (although both remain banned to this day). Zherka, in particular, took to his social media to state that they were tricked into believing the victims were adults since they produced fake identifications.
4) Streamer sniper assaults elderly man in Vitaly's stream
Kick star Vitaly has gained a notorious reputation through his infamous IRL series called "Catching Predators." As the name suggests, the streamer confronts individuals whom he claims to be pedophiles. Many have questioned the legality and safety of these confrontations.
One such stream became extremely controversial when Vitaly collaborated with rapper Ty Dolla $ign. During the confrontation with an elderly man, a stream sniper suddenly appeared from behind and violently punched the man, causing him to drop to the concrete ground. The man was later taken to hospital.
5) Natalie Reynolds allegedly paid a woman $20 to jump into water
In May 2024, Kick streamer Natalie Reynolds participated in Paul "Ice Poseidon's" Scavenger Hunt event. During her broadcast, she encountered a woman and controversially offered her $20 to jump into the lake to help find an RFID scanner. The woman accepted the offer and jumped in but nearly drowned, sparking significant controversy.
This incident led to a huge backlash against Natalie Reynolds. In response to the criticism, the content creator claimed that the woman had told her to leave and not film her, which is why she left the scene without helping her.
