Live streamers have quickly become a part of conventional celebrities and mass media. Many of them have managed to garner tens of millions of followers across their social media profiles. Naturally, these streamers also tend to make viral collaborations for their audiences. However, some of these collaborations have also attracted negative press due to the controversy surrounding them.

This article will list five such broadcasts hosted by streamers that have elicited controversy and criticism.

5 streamer collaborations that ended up creating controversy

1) Adin Ross' stream with 21 Savage

The first collaboration on this list is from Adin Ross' stream. The Kick streamer invited rapper 21 Savage to his home on February 2, 2024. While the stream started smoothly, it later sparked controversy when the rapper was caught on camera cheating in a card game involving money (the amount was reportedly around $250K).

The rapper had allegedly used a marked card, which helped him determine which card to pick. While the streamer didn't notice this during the game, his chat pointed it out to him. After confronting, 21 Savage seemingly denied the allegations and later left the stream.

2) Adin Ross' stream with Playboi Carti

A few days after Adin Ross' stream with 21 Savage, he invited another rapper to his house - this time, it was Playboi Carti. The controversy in this stream arose from the fact that Carti initially promised to come but later said he wouldn't. He eventually did show up, but only stayed for a few minutes before leaving.

To make matters even more controversial, Playboi Carti visibly charged Adin Ross hundreds of thousands of dollars for his appearance, with the streamer even handing him a bag full of cash. It was also alleged that Carti was supposed to receive $2 million (the bag included a portion of the money) and a Ferrari for showing up.

3) Adin Ross and xQc stream with Donald Trump

The third name on the list is once again Adin Ross, although fellow Kick streamer Felix "xQc" was also involved. Last week, on August 5, 2024, the streamers invited none other than Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump. While the stream went viral, it also stirred up controversy.

One of the controversies stemmed from Adin Ross gifting Trump a Rolex and a custom Tesla. This was controversial because individuals are legally allowed to donate only up to $3,000 to a political candidate, meaning this violated laws (as per the Federal Election Commission). As a result, Adin had to take back his gifts and instead presented them to Trump's son (Barron Trump).

4) HasanAbi invites Houthi Pirate

Hasan Piker, also known as HasanAbi, found himself embroiled in controversy earlier this year. In January 2024, the political commentator sparked debate by controversially inviting an alleged Houthi Pirate onto his stream (the dupo communicated via a translator).

This collaboration was controversial because many, especially within the Reddit community (r/LivestreamFail), were displeased with HasanAbi inviting Houthi Pirate onto his stream to discuss an ongoing war situation in Yemen. Some fans found this to be in "poor taste."

5) IShowSpeed's IRL stream with Alisha Lehmann

In early July, popular YouTube streamer Darren "IShowSpeed" hosted an IRL stream in Switzerland with renowned female footballer Alisha Lehmann. During their collaboration, Alisha playfully requested a Rolex from the streamer, a gift he later declined to give.

Controversially, it was later revealed that Alisha Lehmann had allegedly unfollowed the streamer during the broadcast. The YouTube streamer even confronted the Swiss footballer about the situation, to which she responded by saying that she didn't know him well enough, which is why she unfollowed him. This situation ended up attracting some flak for Lehmann.
