It's fair to say that YouTube veteran and streaming star Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV aka "Dr DisRespect" has become a household name within the streaming community. However, those who have followed him over the years will also know that the 42-year-old has found his name in the headlines after being embroiled in countless controversies.
From mysteriously getting banned on Twitch to facing some serious allegations, the Doc has been through a lot. This article will focus on five such controversial incidents involving the two-time champion.
5 times Dr DisRespect was embroiled in a controversy
1) Allegations by former Twitch employee
The first controversy in the list involving Dr DisRespect centers around allegations that surfaced on June 22, 2024. Cody Conners, an ex-Twitch employee, claimed that the streamer was banned from Twitch in 2020 for allegedly messaging a minor and attempting to meet them at a TwitchCon event.

These allegations are indeed serious and Dr DisRespect has not remained silent. The streamer addressed the accusations on his X account, asserting that he has committed no wrongdoing. However, he hinted that legal settlements with Twitch restricted him from elaborating further.
2) Getting mysteriously banned from Twitch
As mentioned in the first point, Dr DisRespect was banned from Twitch back in June 2020. However, this ban, to this day, remains a mystery to many since neither of the two parties involved ever explained the actual reason behind the suspension.
Doc had an exclusive contract with Twitch at the time. Not only that, he was also among the biggest creators on the platform, and at the time of his suspension, had over 4.4 million followers to his name. Since his ban, the streamer has moved to YouTube, where he boasts over 4.73 million followers.
3) Getting backlash for streaming from a bathroom
In the year leading up to his permanent ban from Twitch, the streamer encountered a temporary suspension in June 2019. The reason for this temporary suspension was notably controversial_the streamer broadcasted from inside a bathroom at the Los Angeles Convention Center during E3.
During the 2019 E3 event, the streamer conducted a rare IRL (In Real Life) stream, which is a departure from his usual desktop streaming content. However, controversy ensued when he entered a bathroom with his camera still rolling, violating Twitch's policies. This led to his ban from the platform. His E3 badge was also revoked.
4) Admits to cheating on his wife
Dr DisRespect, who is known for his charismatic on-screen persona and iconic red gear and wig, was forced to temporarily set aside his character during a Twitch stream in December 2017. Shockingly, he appeared on stream in a tearful state, publicly admitting to being unfaithful to his wife.
He also announced that he was taking a hiatus from streaming. Naturally, this decision sparked a significant public backlash. However, he returned from his break in February 2018. Despite the controversy, Guy's wife, affectionately known as Mrs Assassin, remained married to him.
5) Getting criticized for seemingly racist gestures
The final controversy in the list features allegations of racism against the streamer. Back in 2018, Dr DisRespect was called out by Jimmy Wong, an American actor and musician. He was upset with a set of gestures displayed by the streamer, which he labeled as being racist.
The gestures in question were the Doc imitating Chinese or Asian people. The streamer, however, dismissed such allegations reasoning that his wife is multi-racial (she is of Filipino descent) and clapped back at Wong by stating that he was "desperate for attention."
