YouTube creator Herschel "Dr Disrespect" has been making headlines lately owing to the controversy involving him inappropriately messaging a minor through the now-defunct Twitch Whisper service in 2017. During his last stream, the creator had received a text on his phone, which many netizens have since speculated was him being informed of Midnight Society's decision to distance themselves away from the creator.
Following the text, the creator announced an "extended vacation" with his family and an indefinite break from streaming and other business ventures. Since the revelation, there has been an increased interest among netizens regarding Dr Disrespect's family life. As per information relayed by Herschel in his previous streams, he has a daughter. His wife has an account on Instagram, wherein she is known simply as @mrsassassin.

Herschel "Dr Disrespect" was born on March 10, 1982. The 42-year-old creator completed his graduation in 2005 from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Further, he was a NCAA Divison II basketball player during his time studying at the university.
Herschel and his wife have been together for more than 15 years, as evidenced by an anniversary post shared by Doc on X on June 10, 2023. In December 2017, he broke his haughty on-screen character to tearfully confess that he had been unfaithful to his wife and took some time off streaming to focus on and mend his relationship with his family. He had stated:
"I just want to be completely transparent with you guys. As you guys know that I have a beautiful family and a wife and a kid and I wanna be transparent that I have been unfaithful."
Dr Disrespect's wife has not uploaded any further posts on her Instagram account since 2020. However, the account still stands and in many of her posts and highlights, Herschel's daughter, a toddler at the time, can be seen wearing his signature get-up or spending time with her father at various events.
The current controversy began when Twitch's former Director of Strategic Partnerships, Cody Conners, alleged that it was Dr. Disrespect's conversations with the minor and subsequent attempt to meet them at a TwitchCon event that had been the reason behind the latter's ban from Twitch in 2020.
On June 25, 2024, Herschel admitted to doing the same in a lengthy post on X. The creator has received severe backlash since the post. Midnight Society game studios, of which he was a co-founder, cut ties with him. Alongside, the San Francisco 49ers, a professional football team that Herschel was a long-time fan of and had represented online and at events, also terminated their relationship with him.
Dr Disrespect has been in the limelight ever since his admission of having conversations with a minor over Twitch Whisper in 2017. The creator has become the topic of conversation among fellow content creators and streamers, with creators such as Rachell "Valkyrae", Imane "Pokimane" and Nicolas "Sneako" reacting to the revelations.
On the other hand, recent revelations made by a former Twitch employee state that Dr Disrespect knew the individual was a minor, and still allegedly continued to inappropriately conversate with them.
