A new controversy has erupted in the live-streaming community after Minecraft stars Clay "Dream" and Thomas "TommyInnit" got embroiled in a feud. It all started on January 11, 2025, when Dream posted a series of now-deleted tweets, commenting on TommyInnit's recent feud with Twitch and Kick streamer Felix "xQc."
For context, on January 10, 2025, the Briton dissed xQc by mentioning his viral interaction with Donald Trump on Adin Ross' live stream.
In response, the French-Canadian streamer tweeted that TommyInnit gained popularity by sucking up to Dream "for a living."
"From doing streams in my basement to doing a stream with the president. How is that a dis? You went from d**k-riding Dream for a living to making 'jokes' to teenage girls. Lock in."
Interestingly, Dream soon stepped into the fray, and in a now-deleted tweet, shared a seemingly offensive meme depicting a DreamSMP Stan deciding between "growing up" and "becoming a re**rded TommyInnit fan":
Dream's social media post drew criticism from the online community, with some accusing him of becoming an "alt-right grifter."
In response to the backlash, the Florida native stated that he is autistic, adding that netizens were being "disingenuous" because the "whole internet loved" it when people used slurs on him:
"Super annoying having certain creators sh*t on me and my friends constantly when we never say anything back. You shouldn't say the word (re**rded), but I'm literally autistic, and the whole internet loved everyone calling me slurs so obviously people are being disingenuous."
Dream responds to those accusing him of being an "ableist" after commenting on TommyInnit's drama with xQc
Later that day (January 11, 2025), Dream responded to the controversy surrounding the meme he shared about TommyInnit's feud with xQc on his official subreddit, r/DreamWasTaken2. In a now-deleted Reddit post, the content creator claimed that people were "absolutely throttled" because he shared a meme with the R-word.
Stating that netizens were "being disingenuous," the Minecraft streamer wrote:
"Multiple people go viral calling me the R-word and everyone explains that it's okay because they're neurodivergent, so then I see a meme that uses it and post it and get absolutely throttled for it. Obviously, it's the internet being disingenuous, but that doesn't completely invalidate anyone that might be upset by it."
He then responded to those accusing him of being an "ableist" and elaborated on his "problem" with TommyInnit:
"Most of the people calling me ableist for using it are the same people that lit off fireworks when Nicolas Cantu was the slur-slinging slasher (including Tommy's closest friends). It's either okay or it's not okay, the double standards are infuriating. I have my own reasons for having a problem with Tommy going around being the 'internet police,' and was expecting to get a ton of s**t for going after poor Tommy, that lies about me constantly.
TommyInnit eventually responded to Dream's now-deleted Reddit post by tweeting:
"You can call me anything, but do not call me poor, Dream."
On January 12, 2025, Dream announced that he would be hosting a livestream and asked his followers to share clips and tweets to which he could react and respond. When one netizen asked if he would comment on TommyInnit's tweet, Dream said he "will make sure to include" it.
