FaZe Clan's official X page (@FazeClan) made an elaborate post suggesting that Richard "FaZe Banks" will be stepping down from his role as CEO of the organization. For those unaware, Banks is one of the co-founders of the clan. Last year, GameSquare acquired the organization and Banks was appointed as the CEO. Thomas "FaZe Temperrr" was named their president and Yousef “FaZe Apex” the COO.
Today, FaZe Clan took to their official X page to pass on a message from Banks. According to the post, he was set to retire from the organization. However, the entire post is simply a satire and Banks is not leaving FaZe Clan. For those curious, here's what the post read:
"After a lot of reflection, I've made the decision to step down as CEO of FaZe and retire from the org. This isn’t easy, but it's time for me to focus on the things that truly matter."
The post then quipped that fellow Twitch streamer Nick "Lacy" was filling in Bank's position. The post read:
"Thank you to everyone who's supported me and FaZe over the years – this chapter is closing, but the journey is far from over. I’m leaving @LacyHimself in charge as the new leader to bring FaZe to the top."
"LOST A BET" - Banks confirms talks of leaving FaZe Clan was just a prank
For a few minutes, the gaming and streaming community was caught off guard by FaZe Clan's announcement. The update came from FaZe Banks, who revealed his decision to step down as CEO and retire from the organization.
However, the entire post turned out to be just a joke or prank. This was later confirmed by Banks himself, who responded to the original post from his account. He revealed that he had lost a bet, implying that the announcement was part of the deal. He said:
"LOST A BET."
FaZe Lacy also responded to the post, sharing a rather comical picture of himself and captioning it:
"NEW CEO. FAZE UP!"
Currently, streamers associated with FaZe Clan are hosting their 30-day Christmas subathon event, FaZemas. Streamers like Max "Plaqueboymax," Nick "Lacy," Rani "Stable Ronaldo," and Jason "Jasontheween" are all live throughout December.
FaZe Clan has had a year filled with viral moments. Most recently, the group attended the recently concluded The Streamer Awards 2024, where they took home the award for Best Content Organization, beating out competitors like OTK, VShojo, and AMP.
