Streamer and YouTuber Daniel M. Keem, aka Keemstar, became the latest victim of a death hoax as many online believed the DramaAlert owner had died. However, Keemstar is still alive and active on his social media platforms as of nine hours ago at the time of this article.

The rumor of his death first circulated on July 8, 2024, after X user @LemonTheCitrus replied to a post that said, "Popular Youtuber Keemstar has been declared still alive as of today," with:

"this aged so poorly"

The tweet went viral, receiving over 3.1 million views and 35K likes at the time of this article. The comments section was filled with people in disbelief about the YouTuber's death, with the original poster doubling down on the rumor. The death hoax reached far and wide and was also trending on Google.

However, the rumors quickly shut down as Keem was still active on his X account hours after the rumors emerged. On July 9, he posted about the recent controversy surrounding fellow streamer Sketch's past as an LGBTQ+ adult content creator.

In a follow-up tweet, he added:

"Why do so many people flat out lie about me on Twitter ? I don’t hate LGBTQ people I never have and never will. I don’t care that you suck d**k buddy. In fact, I prefer you do that right now instead of lying about me Twitter."

His last tweet was nine hours ago, at the time of this article, where he alluded to bowing out of the controversy after tweeting, "I'm out."

Keemstar pranked his audience on April Fool's Day by announcing his death

Death hoaxes are seemingly not uncommon for Keemstar, as the YouTuber recently pranked his audience on April Fool's Day by announcing that he had died due to "complications from a pulmonary embolism."

According to The Sun, the 42-year-old streamer's pop culture news channel DramaAlert uploaded the following message on X on April 1:

"It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of Keemstar's passing. He peacefully departed last night in his sleep, succumbing to complications from a pulmonary embolism. Our hearts ache for his family and friends as they navigate this profound loss."
"In light of Keemstar's passing, the DramaAlert news team will be temporarily dissolving as we take time to mourn and restructure. We appreciate your understanding during this challenging period," the statement continued.

The following tweet called him a "pioneering figure" in online media and added that he is survived by his daughter Mia. Another tweet said a "Celebration of Life" event will be held in Buffalo to commemorate his life. That same day, Keemstar revealed that his death was part of an elaborate April Fool's prank.

It is noteworthy that tweets from the aftermath of the prank may have resurfaced and caused confusion online, leading more people to erroneously believe that Keem had died.

On July 5, he got engaged to his fiancée Brantley, and the couple posted multiple videos of their proposal.

Daniel Keem got his start on YouTube in 2009. He registered DramaAlert in June 2014. The YouTube channel currently has over 5.37 million subscribers.
