Tyler1, one of Twitch’s most prominent streamers, recently embarked on a highly anticipated Elden Ring marathon, starting on September 9, 2024. Known for his intense and often theatrical gameplay style, Tyler1 kicked off the broadcast with a dramatic entrance, donning a Roman soldier outfit complete with a sword and shield.
107 hours into the marathon, on September 15, the streamer defeated Radahn Consort of Miquella, the final boss of Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and completed the game. Before this, Tyler defeated the original game's final boss, The Elden Beast, within 70 hours of his marathon, and in about 820 deaths, before moving to the DLC.
In the video above, Tyler was visibly ecstatic as he slayed the final boss on the game, relieving him from the grueling 100-plus hour marathon. After grabbing the win, he exclaimed:
"Finally! I'm free... Oh my God, I'm free. Holy sh*t bro, that was a nailbiter."
Radahn is widely considered to be one of the game's most difficult bosses and in a tough battle, Tyler1 managed to defeat the character just as his health bar was about to deplete.
Fans online were pleasantly surprised with Tyler's performance in the game considering he was able to beat Messmer the Impaler with relative ease.
Messmer is an intense, unpredictable challenge, marked by unconventional attack timings, relentless combos, and devastating flame attacks that drain health. Additionally, Messmer’s powerful explosions are capable of delivering one-shot kills, making the fight feel like an overwhelming nightmare, and the streamer was able to defeat the boss in about ten tries.
Reviewing Tyler1's Elden Ring marathon
Tyler1's progress in Elden Ring has been a rocky journey. In the first few hours of the stream, he posted over 89 deaths, primarily struggling with early bosses like Margit, the Fell Omen.
Despite his legendary endurance in gaming—having reached Challenger in all five League of Legends roles—many fans speculated about whether he could sustain the marathon, especially with the 2024 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) coming up, which could potentially derail his focus.
This Elden Ring marathon has also drawn comparisons to Kai Cenat’s record-breaking week-long stream earlier in the year, which sparked the resurgence of marathon-style gaming streams on Twitch.
Overall, the streamer had about 1,721 deaths on both versions of the game in total, 24 of those coming from his final boss fight with Radahn. For reference, Kai had about 1,070 deaths on his Elden Ring DLC gameplay and took about 100 hours to complete the game.
Tyler1's concluding thoughts on Elden Ring
In the end, Tyler1 was overjoyed at finishing the game and finally having the chance to get back to normal conditions:
"Dude, I don't have to sleep on the floor for six days in a row."
The streamer then went on to critique the game, providing insights on his experience fighting bosses:
"All the bosses at the end of the Elden Ring original are really good actually. There's no visual clutter. The DLC was terrible, they made the bosses 'harder' by adding crazy sound to disorient you, disgusting visual clutter on almost every boss."
Overall, the streamer averaged over 17,000 live viewers during his marathon and gained nearly 8,000 new followers on his channel.
