Thea, during her appearance on Joshua Rubin's Wide Awake Podcast, revealed that the duo met in 2022 when Jimmy was in South Africa for a YouTube video and visited a local club:

"Jimmy (MrBeast) was coming down to South Africa with Logan Paul, and Casey Neistat. They had a video they wanted to film in Antarctica and everybody got COVID, so they had to cancel the video and stay in South Africa a little bit longer."

She explained that it was fellow YouTuber Logan Paul who persuaded Jimmy to go to the club. Coincidentally, one of Thea's friends ran into them and invited them to join her (and Thea) for dinner.
