LA Thieves is one of the most prominent teams in the Call of Duty League (CDL), representing the esports organization 100 Thieves, founded by former professional player Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag. Since its formation in 2020, LA Thieves has become a staple in the competitive Call of Duty scene. The team has seen multiple highs and lows but consistently remains competitive.

In a recent livestream, Nadeshot spoke on the leaks surrounding the team's roster and how managing fan expectations can sometimes be difficult.

Nadeshot spoke on the rumors involving professional Call of Duty players Thomas "Scrappy", Paco "HyDra", Dylan "Envoy", and Daniel "Ghosty" forming the new LA Thieves roster:

"These f**king rumors about HyDra and Scrap and all that sh*t have been going on for the last two weeks. Chat, I would do a lot for that f**king roster, you guys know this. We're trying to figure out a team, I'm going to be honest with you boys, more than likely its not going to be that, okay?"

Nadeshot essentially claimed that all the new roster announcements are fake news and more than likely, this team will not be formed. He also touched upon how fans believing the rumors can lead them to have unrealistic expectations from him and the 100 Thieves organization:

"I don't know who the f**k is leaking all of this sh*t or who the hell thinks that they know the situation and what's going on... And this is why these f**king leaks suck, if I can't pull through and put together whatever the f**k that you guys are thinking, then I'm the bad guy, and then whatever team we have, everybody's f**king disappointed about it."

In conclusion, Nade asked fans to be patient, urging them to wait for official announcements:

"Do not believe these headlines gentlemen. It's only going to set me up, set you up, set [LA Thieves] up, for inevitable frustration and disappointment. Just wait for announcements man."

As of this writing, Ghosty is the only fixed player on the LA Thieves roster, leaving three spots up for grabs.

How did the rumors of Scrappy, HyDra, and Envoy joining LA Thieves come about?

On September 6, Toronto Ultra, a team that also competes in the CDL, reposted a clip of Nadeshot suggesting Scrappy should join LA Thieves. Nade also insinuated that Toronto Ultra, Scrappy's former team, is not well supported:

"The thing is, Scrap played for Toronto Ultra, and it's like, yeah it'd be nice for the twenty people that support that team, and over [on LA Thieves] there's pressure... We're expected to win, you know?"

This statement from Matthew, as well as Scrappy's restricted free agency, sparked rumors that the Call of Duty professional might be joining LA Thieves.

The rumors were further solidified when award-nominated esports and gaming journalist, Jacob Hale, claimed LA Thieves is signing Scrappy, HyDra, and Envoy for the Black Ops 6 season to join Ghosty.

The 100 Thieves owner has not confirmed that Scrappy and the rest would be joining the roster, and as of this writing, an official team has not been announced by LA Thieves.

The potential roster changes have generated excitement, as the CDL scene experiences its yearly "rostermania," where teams shuffle their lineups to prepare for the next season of competition.

In other news, Nadeshot expressed frustration with the gaming community, stating that it often feels like gamers are rooting for video games to fail.
