Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag is a professional Call of Duty player turned CEO, responsible for orchestrating the esports and content creation company, 100 Thieves. He is also an active streamer, with over 2 million followers on Twitch. In a recent post on X, Nadeshot revealed he has an eye condition that requires surgical procedures.
This isn't the first time Matthew has spoken about his eye problems. In August 2024, he spoke about issues with his vision and mentioned that he was "very farsighted", and that until then, he had been using prescription glasses that were far below his needs.
In the video above, Nadeshot explained his poor eyesight and claimed he needed a change in glasses after being told so by his optometrist:
"Went to the optometrist today, and this doctor was basically like, 'I don't know how you've been functioning, since you got this pair of glasses. This pair of glasses... is so far below what you should be wearing. If I gave you what you actually need, you would throw up."
Fast forward to October 2024, it seems that the 100 Thieves CEO's condition has gotten worse, considering that surgical intervention is now required to relieve him of a rare eye condition he's developed.
What eye condition does Nadeshot have?
In a recent development, Nadeshot revealed he has Pellucid Marginal Degeneration (PMD). It is a rare eye condition that affects the cornea (the clear, dome-shaped surface at the front of your eye). In PMD, the lower part of the cornea thins out, leading to distorted vision.
"I have something called... Pellucid Marginal Degeneration, PMD, which makes my cornea [more thin] and it's all types of f**ked up."
People with PMD often experience blurry vision, a problem Matthew stated he's faced in the past. Although the condition can be cured using prescription lenses, in severe cases where vision is significantly impaired and other treatments are not helpful, a corneal transplant might be recommended by the doctor.
Nadeshot expressed that he has tried different ways to cope with his eyesight problems in the past, including changing monitors and trying different resolutions:
"If you watch the stream, I've been consistently complaining about not being able to see well. It led me down a dark path, buying different OLED monitors, trying to play in 1440p, putting the monitor as close to my face as I can physically possibly get it and then going to the optometrist."
In other news, Nadeshot mentioned that the gaming community nowadays wants games to fail.
