Activision is set to launch the sixth edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game has already set records before its official release, such as having the "biggest Call of Duty beta ever" in terms of total player count, hours played, and engagement. Many streamers, including Kick's Adin Ross, bought into the game's hype early, and although a lot of them had positive experiences, Adin had a different story.
The streamer paid around four to five thousand dollars to get his hands on the game early, thinking he'd actually be able to enjoy the full Black Ops experience. Instead, he could only navigate the new user interface, called "Call of Duty HQ", where players can access all their owned COD editions in one place.
"It's pointless": Adin Ross has a difficult first time trying to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set for a global release on October 25, 2024. Unlike some of its recent predecessors, this year's release does not include an early access period for the campaign or multiplayer modes. Perhaps Adin Ross was under the assumption that the premium price he was paying to buy the game early would allow him to use the game's full functionality:
"I'll explain why [Black Ops 6] is pointless to get early... you load up the game, you can't play it. It's pointless, I can't even play it, it loads up Call of Duty: Black Ops, the HQ thing, and that's it."
He mentioned the game was patched just after he purchased a physical copy for the PlayStation 5:
"They patched it... so, therefore, I couldn't play this game early... It doesn't f**king work. I got the game a week early, can't play it. I got scammed man, the servers aren't up yet, they'll probably be up in a few days and once their up, Imma stream it. I paid like $4,000-$5,000 for it, so, it is what it is."
The hype around the latest COD edition is real, especially considering that the game's reveal trailer also broke records, becoming the most-watched Call of Duty trailer ever, exceeding 49 million views in just a few days.
In other news, WestCol has surpassed Adin Ross to become the most-followed streamer on Kick, while Stream Fighter 3 attracted an audience of over one million concurrent viewers.
