Adin Ross is the latest streamer to object to Samantha Rivers winning the Streamer of the Year title at the 2024 Esports Award. In his most recent stream on Kick, Adin Ross was reacting to Twitch star Asmongold's comments about Samanatha getting the award, when he explained that he had no idea who Samantha Rivers was.
Claiming to not be disrespectful, Adin posed the question to his audience:
"So who the f**k is RiversGG? I am not even trying to be disrespectful, I mean. I am not joking, I saw her on Twitter these past few days. Who the f**k is this?"
Stating that nobody knows who Samantha Rivers is despite this being the second time she has been crowned Streamer of the Year at the Esports Awards, Adin Ross claimed that award shows like these mean nothing:
So nobody knows who the f**k this is and she won Streamer of the Year? Stop giving in to these f**king award shows. They mean nothing."
Adin Ross advocates for IShowSpeed over Samantha Rivers for the Streamer of the Year award
After the Mexican streamer Samantha Rivers, who boasts the third-highest female following on Twitch with 6.3 million followers, won the Streamer of the Year Award at the Esports Awards, there was a public outcry.
This stemmed primarily from the English-speaking side of the streaming community, with many stating that IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat were robbed.
Twitch streamer Asmongold caused quite a stir after he insinuated on a recent stream that the only reason Samantha Rivers won the award was because she was a woman, calling it a "diversity pick." As such, his comments have gone viral on social media and Adin Ross came across this while streaming on Kick.
Adin Ross seemingly agreed with some parts of Asmongold's take on the issue and went on to criticize award shows. He claimed that he had never been recognized for his contributions to the streaming scene during his prime and stated that others such as IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat had a fantastic year:
"In my prime 2021, I never won sh*t, okay? Kai and Speed were going crazy this year too, I mean like, come on bro. Come on bro. Let's be real chat, I've seen Speed all over my Twitter feed when he went to that Europe tour, everywhere bro."
According to stats shared by Esports Awards, IShowSpeed was the runner-up in the Streamer of the Year Awards voting tally with Kai Cenat coming in at third.
