Twitch star Zack "Asmongold" has given his first impressions of Black Myth Wukong. After spending over six hours playing the game developed by Game Science, the Austin, Texas-based personality described Black Myth Wukong as an "amazing game," giving it a nine to nine-point-five rating on a scale of ten.
Explaining why he didn't rate the action role-playing game a 10/10, Asmongold said:
"It's an amazing game. Like... at this point, I think that it's a nine to a nine-point-five. And, the only reason that it's not higher is - I wish it had more open-world exploration because of how good the game is. And I feel like... I even feel dumb even saying that. I think it's at least a nine-point-five."

The Twitch streamer then compared Black Myth Wukong to Final Fantasy 16, claiming that the former's bosses were "better" than those in the latter:
"I actually think there are more and better bosses than, at least so far in my first day, in Final Fantasy 16. Like (Final Fantasy) 16 had way better thematics. But this has way better mechanics. The mechanics in this game are incredible. They're so well done. Each of the bosses is really well-designed. I really think it's a great game."
Asmongold says Black Myth Wukong is "way better" than he expected
The conversation continued with Asmongold stating that Black Myth Wukong was "way better" than he expected. Expressing surprise at how well-polished the game was, the co-founder of One True King (OTK) said:
"I think this is an amazing game. This is way better than what I had expected. 'I'm so surprised it's so polished.' I am, too! Like, I'm actually shocked at how good this game is."

The content creator's attention was drawn to a Twitch user who asked if he thought Black Myth Wukong was 2024's best game. In response, Asmongold stated that he would give his opinion after finishing it, as well as a desire to do "more things" in the game:
"'Best game of the year?' I don't know. I really have to think about it, right? I mean, let me finish the game, and then I'll give an opinion. But, yeah, I really... again, I really wish that I... I wish I had more things to explore and more things to do in the game. And, I hope that these developers, if this game does as well as it seems like it's doing, I hope this will empower them to make a game that's even bigger, with more scope and more content to it."
