Popular political commentator and streamer Steven "Destiny" has made a post on X explaining how his appeal for a reversal of his ban from Twitch was rejected. He originally received the ban for "hateful conduct" in March 2022, and has been unable to gain access to the platform since. Instead, he shifted to streaming on Kick, which is known for its relatively lax moderation policy.
In the post made by Steven on X on June 15, 2024, he seemingly referred to Sneako, who recently had his channel reinstated by Twitch. Steven stated that he is "converting to Islam," which some fans speculate is alluding to Sneako and his ban being lifted:
"Brb converting to Islam."
Destiny shares Twitch's email response rejecting his ban appeal
Steven is known for his outspoken political ideologies and opinions on happenings around the world. However, his behavior and remarks have often led him to be the subject of controversy and subsequently incur bans from Twitch. He had raked up over five bans before being suspended from the platform for "Hateful Conduct". He has not been unbanned since, although as per the email, it is not an "indefinite suspension" as of yet.
While no confirmation was provided by Twitch regarding the exact reason behind the ban, many have since speculated that it was due to Steven hosting Nick Fuentes on his stream. Nick Fuentes is a well-known far-right commentator and white nationalist who had been banned from Twitch at that point already.
Conversely, Sneako was banned from Twitch in October 2022 following just one stream on the platform. This was right after his suspension from YouTube, and collaboration with Andrew Tate, who was banned from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and many other major social media sites at the time. On June 11, 2024, Sneako put in an appeal for his ban to be lifted. In response, Twitch complied and stated that his case met their criteria for reinstatement.
Many fans were quick to point out the possible reasons why Sneako was unbanned, while Destiny remains suspended from Twitch:
On the other side, Destiny's appeal for the repealing of his ban led to a response in negative by Twitch. In the email he received for his ban appeal, it stated:
"Hello Destiny, Your account was recently suspended for Hateful Conduct. A member of our team has reviewed your appeal, and after taking a look into the details of your case, we have determined that your account will remain suspended due to your violation of our Community Guidelines."
Further, the email warned Destiny to not engage in any form of evasion practices, for example, streaming using a different account, as doing so would result in further penalties:
"NOTE: Attempting to evade restrictions placed on your account may result in additional penalties, up to and including indefinite suspension."
Controversial streamer Nicolas "Sneako" had been banned from Twitch two years ago even though the platform was not his mainstay. Now, after his channel is operable once again, the streamer has set his sights on YouTube, asking the video-hosting platform to unban his channel there as well.
