Controversial internet personality Steven "Boogie2988" has addressed the online community regarding his recent scandal. For context, on July 10, 2024, Kick streamer Steven "Destiny" accused Boogie2988 of faking his cancer diagnosis, claiming that the latter was "absolutely lying" about his health.

The next day (July 11, 2024), Destiny confronted Boogie2988 during a Lolcow Live podcast livestream, explaining why he believed the 49-year-old had lied about having polycythemia. Following the viral interaction, the YouTuber deactivated his official X account.

On July 16, 2024, Boogie2988 reactivated his X account to address the alleged fake cancer diagnosis controversy. While claiming to have been taking medications to treat cancer symptoms for the past two years, the content creator revealed that he still has "one test left" to determine "which cancer."

He elaborated:

"However for the last 2 years, I've been treating the symptoms of that cancer. Blood tests, medications, and so much more. We still have one test left to do to verify which cancer it is. For now, we have been treating the Polycythemia Vera which is the cancer they told me that I have. My brother has seen it in my medical charts. My Girlfriend and best friend have been present when the doctor spoke of it."

After stating that he had lost his family and close friends to cancer, Boogie2988 claimed the disease was not something he would "ever lie about." He then issued an apology, writing:

"Cancer is not something I would ever lie about. But I should have waited for the final tests to be done and not just repeated what my doctor had to say that day. I'm sorry that I ever spoke of it and moving forward no matter what happens I will not speak of it publicly."

He added that he considered the situation a "closed matter":

"I consider this a closed matter and now will make sure it remains a private battle that is shared only with my closest loved ones. I'm sorry for those hurt or offended by either the rumors that have floated around or by my actions when I spoke too early about my cancer."

Boogie2988 says he is "doing more tests" to confirm Polycythemia Vera diagnosis, says he "panicked" when the doctor told him about his condition two years ago

In the same social media post, Boogie2988 stated that he was "doing more tests" to confirm his polycythemia vera diagnosis, claiming that the procedure would begin with a colonoscopy. The Abingdon, Virginia native added that he "panicked" when the doctor informed him of his condition two years ago:

"We are now doing more tests to confirm the Polycythemia Vera or determine if there is a second cancer present. We are starting with a colonoscopy to see if there is cancer present there, as I've shown signs that prostate cancer is present. I was panicked when my doctor told me I had cancer two years ago and when I was in a vulnerable state I shared that long before I should have. It was a stupid, stupid thing to do. I should have never jumped the gun like that."

Drama Alert and Lolcow Live podcast host Daniel "Keemstar" called Boogie2988 an "idiot" in response to the situation.
