MrBeast and Amazon Prime Video have finally launched the long-awaited Beast Games gameshow on December 19, 2024, and Prime Video subscribers can now watch the first two episodes. Before the show aired, the YouTuber conducted a qualifier round that involved 2,000 prospects. However, by the end of the very first episode of the show, over half of the 1,000-strong contestant population was cut down.

The drama intensified during the final round of the qualifiers. MrBeast offered a proposition to the remaining contestants, who were all split up into teams of 100, and confined to small platforms. The YouTuber offered three bribe amounts —$5,000, $50,000, and eventually, a whopping $1 million, to the first person to jump off their platform and voluntarily eliminate themselves from Beast Games.

The catch was that their entire team would be eliminated along with them. In the video, MrBeast presented the first $5,000 bribe to the contestants and nobody budged. The stakes went higher when he presented the next amount of $50,000.

Participants decided whether they should abandon their spot and sacrifice their team over a 10-minute timer. One female participant jumped the gun and ran straight for the $50,000 bribe before the timer even started. MrBeast explained that this, unfortunately, meant that along with her entire team being eliminated, she would not pocket the bribe due to a technicality:

"She's not gonna get it, because that timer hadn’t started. But she stepped off. I didn't start the timer yet. ('I don't get the money?', asked the participant) No, because the timer hadn't started yet. Oh my God. 99 people just lost out on $5 million. All because she jumped."

1,000 people qualify for a chance to win $5 million on MrBeast's Beast Games

To qualify for the main show, the prospects gathered at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and participated in a series of challenges. While some of these trials required athleticism others, like the final round, were more psychological.

Unfortunately, the participant who jumped off the platform and her entire team walked out of the stadium. The silver lining was that each of them left with $2,000 in hand for their participation.

However, the remaining 1,000 contestants qualified for a spot on Beast Games, which has even higher stakes and a chance to win $5 million, a Lamborghini, and an entire island.

In the qualifier video's conclusion, MrBeast claimed that his show featured a cash prize that has never been done before:

"I am standing on 5 million dollars of real money. The largest grand prize in entertainment history."

The qualifiers at the Allegiant Stadium were shrouded in controversy, with allegations of unfair play and unsafe working environments. The Prime Video show is also being shadowed by a class-action lawsuit for $5 million.
