Michael "Shroud" has made a name for himself by excelling at video games, specifically shooters like Counter-Strike and PUBG. Over the years, Shroud has often played new releases on stream, providing live commentary on the game's overall experience. Since he's a seasoned veteran, his opinions carry weight within the gaming community.
Most recently, Shroud play-tested Deadlock, a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) shooter, and he played an ice-based character named Kelvin, along with his partner and streamer Hannah "Bnans". Here's what the streamer had to say:
"This ice sh*t's got to be the coolest thing I've ever seen in a video game, like how you're making a terrain under your feet, it's f**king cool as sh*t."
Bnans also seemed to agree with Shroud and said:
"It works really well."
Deadlock's official X account reposted the clip and fans under the post generally agreed with the streamer's sentiment.
Shroud tested out Deadlock, a brand-new shooter game
Valve's new game, Deadlock, is a blend of a MOBA and a shooter, creating a unique experience that merges elements from both genres. It features fast-paced gameplay that on vertical movement and the use of abilities, rather than relying solely on gunplay.
In Deadlock, players select from a roster of 20 heroes, each with distinct abilities, and engage in team-based battles across four-lane maps. The game's structure closely mirrors traditional MOBA mechanics, with minions, jungle zones, and the ultimate goal of destroying the opposing team's Patron.
Shroud first's interaction with Deadlock was on August 24, 2024, and as of this writing, the streamer has about 56 hours streamed on the game.
While playing the game for the first time, Shroud expressed how much he liked it:
"This is probably the best third-person shooter I’ve ever played, it’s not just simply shoot and use abilities. There’s so much more nuance to it.”
Shroud is extremely impressed with Valve's new game, Deadlock. During his streams, he highlighted the title's unique blend of arena shooter and other elements, praising its depth and mechanical variety.
Despite having shooter elements, Deadlock leans heavily into its MOBA roots, and the guns are designed to complement abilities rather than be the primary focus. As of now, the game is still in early development and no official release date has been announced.
In other news, Shroud believes that if Black Myth: Wukong doesn't win the Game of the Year award, then the awards are "rigged".
