Twitch streamer and former professional CS: GO player Michael "Shroud" has announced that he will be hosting a charity subathon. As explained by Shroud, the subathon will involve a wide variety of First Person Shooter (FPS) games as well as content creators who typically make content revolving around the genre.
As part of the subathon, these content creators will participate in certain challenges given by Shroud. The 30-year-old claimed he would donate a proportional amount of money based on the performance of the participating content creators in the aforementioned challenges. Shroud said:
"My goal here is to donate, I don't know how much money. It could be a hundred thousand dollars, it could be two hundred thousand dollars, it could be five hundred thousand dollars, could be a million dollars of my own money. I don't know. I don't know how much it's going to get to, but that's kind of the game plan."
"My house is basically a giant set": Shroud explains premise of upcoming charity subathon featuring FPS games and streamers
Shroud is a renowned streamer within the FPS community, initially gaining prominence due to his professional gaming career in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. With over 11.1 million followers on his Twitch channel, he is currently the tenth most followed content creator on the platform.
As such, Shroud's influence is sure to attract notable content creators from the FPS community to partake in his upcoming charity subathon. As explained by Shroud, the subathon will include as many games from the FPS genre as possible, and provide challenges based on in-game metrics like eliminations:
"Part of the marathon stream that we're doing is, we're going to involve as many first person shooters, or just shooter players in general that want to participate, and we're going to play all sorts of different games, and they're going to be doing challenges. They're going to be doing certain things on their streams, and as they tally up their eliminations or whatever the challenges might be that I give to them, I will donate money."
Further, Shroud stated that the subathon was a work in progress, with the details still being hashed out:
"It's still a work in progress, we're still trying to figure out how everything's flowing, but right now, my house is basically a giant set. So, that'll be fun!"
