Various social media posts claiming popular YouTube streamer IShowSpeed got arrested for fentanyl possession started trending on social media on September 4, 2024, and many bewildered fans fell for it. The claims, however, have no factual backing. Most viral posts and clips claiming the YouTuber's arrest as of now are either old or without merit.
IShowSpeed has been arrested and detained by the police in the past due to various swatting incidents. That said, there is no indication that he has been arrested recently and the whole trend started after the YouTuber posted a photo of himself on September 3 from his alternate X account @ronaldobetter07 captioned "I'll be back".
The post is a joke as the photo is not a mugshot but of a license taken for the American Automobile Association. Regardless, rumors that he has been arrested were fanned by various fan accounts associated with IShowSpeed such as @SpeedyUpdatesx who took the photo of the streamer and claimed that he had been detained by the authorities for alleged drug possession.
"Youtuber "IShowSpeed" arrested for possession of fentanyl.", reads the caption of @SpeedyUpdatesX's erroneous post.
Other posts claiming his arrest point to inappropriate behavior on stream but those are unsubstantiated rumors as well.

IShowSpeed's joke post on X fans rumors of arrest and drug possession
As mentioned before, IShowSpeed has been known to have a contentious relationship with law enforcement. He has been a repeat victim of swatting, with the police showing up on his doorstep on numerous occasions due to hoax calls.
However, this time the news of his arrest started after he took to his alternate account on X and shared a photo of his AAA license. The post is an obvious joke considering how the letters "AAA" are visible in the picture that the streamer posted on social media.
Slipz, IShowSpeed's cameraman and manager, fanned the flames of the rumor of his arrest as well by continuing the joke and satirically replying to the post and insinuating that he would be coming over to bail him out.
This exchange on X has been flagged by many in the fan base with some viewers calling the two out for clip-farming and pointing out the AAA logo in the photo posted by IShowSpeed.
"Nice try Slipz. I will speak for the group. it’s for AAA so he can drive in other countries", noted X user @LoganTrueman.
It is evident from the posts that IShowSpeed's initial post about the AAA license photo is the reason why claims of his arrest went viral and readers should note that the rumors are baseless and stem from a joke.
As for why he is getting a driving license, it might be because he needs an international driving permit to compete in the Gumball 3000 car rally in the coming weeks.
