Former CS: GO professional and Twitch streamer Michael "Shroud" expressed that Overwatch is superior to Marvel Game's Marvel Rivals, in light of the latter's recent release and subsequent success. The streamer has been playing the title on his Twitch channel for the past few days as part of his ongoing FRAGATHON streaming event.
Despite this, the streamer emphasized Overwatch's influence during its prime days, having become a global phenomenon at the time:
"Oh, for sure, Overwatch is absolutely a much better game...People forget how insane that game was when it came out. That game was... It ran good, it looked good, frames were insane, anyone could play it, matchmaking was good. Bro, it took over the world. Don't ever disrespect the GOAT. Don't ever disrespect the GOAT."
Shroud gives his opinion on the comparison between Marvel Rivals and Overwatch
Shroud is an icon within the FPS and the shooter community in general, having showcased his prowess in these two genres during his professional stint as a Valorant and CS: GO player. Owing to this, the 30-year-old Canadian streamer has a deeper understanding of shooter titles, often expressing his opinion based on the game during his broadcasts.
During his FRAGATHON subathon, Shroud read a message sent in by a viewer which claimed that Overwatch was a better game than Marvel Rivals. The streamer talked about the comparison between the two, stating:
"You gotta remember, that's like... comparing a new game to an old game. Like, I don't know, Counter-Strike to Valorant or something, you know? Of course, a new game is going to be more exciting for people."
More than a month after its release, Marvel Rivals continues to maintain a substantial playerbase. As per SteamDB, a website providing statistics regarding the playerbase of games on the Valve-owned online marketplace, Marvel Rivals has around 322,000 concurrent players as of writing.
Shroud had recently expressed his intention to host a charity subathon, which will involve other streamers who create content related to shooter games. The Canadian also declared that he would be making donations based on the performance of these streamers within the aforementioned challenges, even potentially donating a million dollars of his money.
