YouTube streamer Darren "IShowSpeed's" brother Jamal recently disclosed his feelings regarding the former's online success and the implications it has had on his personal life. To those unaware, Jamal is IShowSpeed's 16-year-old half-brother, who has appeared alongside the TouTuber on multiple videos and broadcasts.
In a clip, Jamal can be heard expressing his want to develop his own identity and do his "own stuff" without riding off his brother's fame. He also discussed how his sibling's popularity affects his school life, stating:
"Let's say I wanna be a regular kid... I wanna do stuff without a famous brother, let's say that. I wanna do my own stuff. I don't wanna have my brother be the main center of attention like every time I go to school. They bring up Speed and you know, yadda yadda yadda, it ticks me off."
He also brought up his desire to "cut contact" with "everyone else" while taking a break from streaming in general to focus on himself:
"I wanna cut contact with everybody over there and just be myself, bro. You know what I'm saying?... Take a break off Speed's streams, take a break off like streaming in general, and start, you know, worrying about myself."
"For like at least three years": IShowSpeed's brother Jamal expresses desire to take a "break" from appearing in former's livestreams
IShowSpeed has been gaining massive traction online recently through his IRL broadcasts on YouTube which often involve him visiting various countries and interacting with their citizens, exploring local attractions, or engaging in over-the-top activities for the entertainment of fans.
IShowSpeed's most recent broadcasts were part of an extensive tour of South East Asia, where he visited countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos and met up with the countries' native celebrities such as legendary professional boxer Manny Pacquiao and Malaysia's Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris.
Thus, it comes as no surprise that Jamal has experienced much talk about his brother from his schoolmates. Jamal also expressed his wish to take a hiatus from appearing on IShowSpeed's broadcasts, with the duration of the hiatus being as much as three years:
"I kind of want to hop off Speed's streams for like eighty, well not eighty years, but like, you know, for at least three years, and see how it is."
IShowSpeed recently came out with his own flavor of PRIME, the hydration drink co-founded by Logan Paul and Olajide "KSI's". The flavor is called Dragon Fruit Acai and was unveiled in a promotional video uploaded by IShowSpeed on Instagram in collaboration with Prime's account.
