YouTube streamer Herschel "Dr DisRespect" recently made a post on X, claiming that he would rather retire from streaming than shift to broadcasting on Twitch's rival platform, Kick. This comes a day after Kick CEO Ed Craven made remarks regarding the potential "harm" it would cause for the brand to have the Doc as a partner.

For context, Dr DisRespect has been accused by a former Twitch employee of engaging in inappropriate conversations with a minor through the now-defunct service, Twitch Whisper, in 2017. Soon after, the streamer admitted doing so through an X post on June 25, 2024.

Expressing his disinterest in moving to Kick, Dr DisRespect wrote on October 16, 2024:

"I’d retire before considering streaming on Kick."

Dr DisRespect turns down prospect of shifting to Kick after Ed Craven claimed onboarding him would be "a waste of money"

After admitting to texting a minor inappropriately in his June 25 post, Dr DisRespect decided to take a hiatus from broadcasting. He returned to streaming on YouTube almost two months later, on September 5, 2024. Despite streaming regularly from that date, he continues to receive backlash online because of the allegation.

As such, Kick CEO Ed Craven claimed making a deal with Dr DisRespect would "make zero sense."

"Um, yeah. Making a deal with Dr DisRespect from a financial and a business perspective right now would make zero sense. It would do more harm for Kick and it would be a waste of money at this point in time is my opinion."

Reacting to Ed Craven stating that he would not offer Dr DisRespect a deal, the latter said that his community on YouTube was "the best in the industry" and that he would not like to move it to Kick.

"My community is the best in the industry… I wouldn’t take it there. There’s a reason why they keep dropping my name. Think about it."

Following his controversy, Dr DisRespect was prohibited from earning money through memberships, and his YT channel was demonetized. Just a few weeks after making a comeback on this platform, he revealed that he had reapplied for a YouTube partnership.

This decision divided netizens, with some stating that the punitive actions against him should have never taken place to begin with, while others wondered if what he has been accused of had been "forgotten."
