Twitch streamer Kai Cenat said in a recent Billboard interview that Kendrick Lamar won last year's rap beef with Drake. The popular live streamer has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry and has interacted with renowned musical artists such as Offset, Nicki Minaj, SZA, and others on his broadcasts.
Last year, Drake texted Kai Cenat while the latter was live on Twitch, and asked him to stay online. Moments later, the rapper released the Family Matters diss track, allowing the streamer to react and give his opinion. For those unaware, Kai has been a big supporter of the Canadian singer.
However, in an interview released by Billboard on January 27, 2025, Kai Cenat proclaimed Kendrick Lamar as the winner of the beef. At around the 10-minute mark of the interview, the streamer noted that while many fans would've expected him to lean towards Drake's side, Kendrick won the battle:
"I'm cool with Drake, so people would expect me to be on Drake's side, yeah. But I have already said, Kendrick got that. I'm not going to lie, Kendrick won that battle. And I was like, 'Damn!'"
"I loved it": Kai Cenat opens up about the Drake vs Kendrick Lamar rap beef
Kai Cenat is not just another Twitch streamer. The famous content creator was featured in the latest Billboard Power 100 issue and seems to be the first streamer to be on the magazine cover. As one of the most popular Twitch creators, he substantially influences hundreds of thousands of fans, many of whom regularly tune in to watch his broadcasts.
One of the main features of Kai's broadcast is that many artists send him previews of their upcoming or unreleased songs. For example, in July 2024, he previewed one of Drake's unreleased tracks which featured Lil Yachty, and his audience was treated to some never-before-heard music.
Naturally, Kai Cenat followed the famous Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef that consumed many in the rap community last year. In the interview, he claimed that he loved the feud and gave his perspective as a Twitch streamer reacting to the songs with a collective audience:
"Personally doing the Kendrick and Drake beef, it's like, we're streamers. So, it's like we're the audience as well, right? All of this was so fun to me, like, it was. We'll never experience something like that again. Unless something else like that happens again. That was good, that was a good week, that was a good week." (Billboard interview timestamp: 9:15)
Kai Cenat also noted how his name was said in one of the songs during the beef:
"I didn't know what to expect and man that was a good battle, that was a good fight I'm not going to lie. I loved it. My name was said in like the first song that came out." (Billboard interview timestamp: 9:56)
Kai Cenat's influence in the music industry is undeniable, and his inclusion in Drake's recent UMG lawsuit further proves this. For those unaware, the Canadian rapper claimed UMG let content creators like Kai react to Kendrick Lamar's songs during the beef and whitelisted the reaction videos to promote "defamatory" songs like Not Like Us.
Kai Cenat was quite surprised to learn he was named in the lawsuit. Read more about his reaction here.
