Twitch streamer Herschel "DrDisrespect" recently made a post on X ridiculing video game streamers. This comes amid the 42-year-old content creator's hiatus from content creation following the massive controversy that involved him interacting inappropriately with a minor.
To those unaware, DrDisrespect had announced that he would be going on a "vacation" with his family after admitting to having "inappropriate" conversations with a minor over the now-defunct Twitch Whisper in 2017, leading to his eventual ban from Twitch. Now, the streamer seems to have targeted video game broadcasters in his post on X, stating:
"Are people still streaming video games? What a snoozefest."
DrDisrespect announces return from hiatus in the midst of hiatus from streaming following grooming controversy
After DrDisrespect admitted to his actions with the minor in the now-deleted X post on June 25, 2024, the streamer went quiet on social media to wait for a while as the controversy surrounding him blew over. As a week passed, the backlash surrounding him only seemed to grow, with his YouTube paid memberships also being put on pause by the platform.
Since then, DrDisrespect has made several mysterious posts on X. The first one he made following the peak of the controversy on July 31, 2024, included a photo of him overlooking a chessboard. Soon after, on August 15, 2024, the streamer stated that he had "lots to talk about" with his fans.
Now, in a reply to his latest post, DrDisrespect has announced that he has returned from his family "vacation," hinting at a possible return to streaming in the coming few days.
One of the major consequences of the backlash against DrDisrespect was the removal of all of the content themed around DrDisrespect from the free-to-play third-person shooter title Rogue Company. Further, the developers provided refunds to all the individuals who had purchased content themed around the streamer.
