In a recent stream on Twitch, Eric "Erobb221" used the "r-word" while referring to his brother Tyler "loltyler1's" girlfriend Macaiyla. This comes after the latter made contentious statements regarding Algerian Olympian Imane Khelif. In a series of posts made on X, she had stated that Khelif should not be participating in the women's boxing category, after accusations emerged against the latter's gender identity.

In his broadcast from August 6, 2024, Erobb221 was playing Call of Duty when he protested the use of the "r-word," and then followed it up by using the pejorative term for Macaiyla instead:

"Can we not use the r-word, please? My sister-in-law's r****ded."

The backlash against Macaiyla erupted when she made posts on X talking about the situation surrounding Imane Khelif. She claimed that she and Tyler1 both did not like the transgender community.

After receiving criticism online for her comments, Macaiyla apologized for both her remarks regarding Imane Khelif as well as for speaking on behalf of her boyfriend Tyler1.

In her apology, made on X on August 2, 2024, she referred to her comments about Imane Khelif as "misinformation" and stated that she had made them out of "ignorance and carelessness."

What is the controversy surrounding Imane Khelif?

The controversy surrounding the Algerian boxer began when she won a match against Italian boxer Angela Carini during a match-up in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Angela Carini tearfully quit the match 46 seconds in, after receiving a series of blows from Khelif.

Backlash erupted online after claims emerged that Imane Khelif had been suspended by the IBA (International Boxing Association) last year over a failed gender test. However, this report was deemed "arbitrary" by the IOC (International Olympic Committee), and the IBA was subsequently stripped of its recognition. The former organization also cleared Imane Khelif to compete in the women's category.
