Twitch star Zack "Asmongold" has commented on the recent controversy involving streamer Nicholas "Nickmercs." For those out of the loop, Nickmercs went viral on June 11, 2024, for his remarks about the transgender community. Claiming that there's "no such thing as trans people," the 33-year-old stated:
"There's no such thing as trans people. That's something that you created. So, have fun in your little dreamland, but that s**t is not even real. Let me bring it down for you, all right? P***s - dude. V****a - girl. Done! Don't come in here with f**king trans s**t, bruh! Ridiculous!"
During a livestream on June 12, 2024, Asmongold shared his thoughts on the situation. Expressing what he found to be the "craziest" aspect of the debacle, the Austin, Texas-based personality said:
"Anyway, what was so crazy to me about this is that whenever I went and I looked at all the comments on this - everybody is supporting Nick. F**king everybody is supporting him! Like, I hardly see anybody. There are a few people (the streamer reads a few replies on X)... it's like people are going nuts! They're going crazy!"
A few moments later, Asmongold's attention was drawn to a viewer who asked if "public perception" was changing. In response, the streamer claimed that Nickmercs' opinion was "extremely common."
He said:
"The public perception is being represented. I think that this opinion that Nick has is extremely common like crazy! Super common! Now, you can't say this on social media in a lot of cases. You can't have this opinion. But just because you can't say something on social media doesn't mean that people don't think it, and that's the reality."
Asmongold says last year's controversy led to Nickmercs getting "radicalized"
At the 55-minute mark of the stream, Asmongold discussed last year's controversy, during which Nickmercs' Call of Duty Operator bundle was removed after he tweeted that children should be "left alone" in response to a confrontation involving an anti-LGBTQ+ group.
Commenting on the FaZe Clan co-owner getting "canceled," Asmongold remarked:
"How is it that Nickmercs got canceled for that? He lost brand deals, opportunities, and sponsorships, all for that thing that is an opinion that is held by what I would guess is the majority of the American parent population."

The One True King (OTK) member stated that if the aforementioned situation had not occurred, the Twitch and Kick star "wouldn't be as outspoken." He elaborated:
"I think that that happening is what caused this to happen. I think that if that had never happened to Nick, Nick probably wouldn't be saying this, and he probably wouldn't be as outspoken about it as he is. But because people tried to demonize him for saying something that I think the majority of parents agree with... now it radicalized him."
In addition to Asmongold, Twitch streamer Sophia "Djarii" has also reacted to Nickmercs' comments about the transgender community. In a social media post on X, Djarii expressed her displeasure with the Detroit native's comments, calling them the "most asinine take ever."
