Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has ventured into the fashion world, much to the surprise of his fans. The streamer is one of the faces of the upcoming Marc Jacobs Fall Collection, along with other celebrities like Lil Uzi and Cardi B. In a clip posted on August 1, the famous brand announced its new collection, with the famous personalities dressed in designer wear.
The video, titled "What Is Marc Jacobs?", is also making news for featuring Cardi B and Irina Shayk. It has been filmed by esoteric filmmaker Harmony Korine. The streamer can be seen wearing the designer’s trademark sunglasses, leather pants, and a fur coat. When asked what Marc Jacobs is, the streamer described the designer as “fun”.
The reaction to the news has been mixed. While some were impressed by the designer brand’s PR tactics, many others questioned Kai Cenat's appearance in the lineup. @TheClipBot shared a sarcastic post on X, with a picture of Cenat in an interesting head cap:
“Fashion Icon”
“They really let someone like this on marc jacobs" said @xhayezz on X.
However, numerous comments were supportive of this move:
“marc jacobs marketing rn is insane nobody talking about it” said @officialvrewls on X.
“Marc Jacobs PR team going crazy" said @Kaimafiaupdates on X.
Kai Cenat is no stranger to being in the news for fashion
While this might be the first time Kai Cenat was made the face of such a big brand, he is also known for his controversial views on fashion. In March 2024, he got into trouble for deeming Kanye West’s YZY clothing range as “crazy”, criticizing its sizing. Kanye West fired back instantly, with an Instagram DM:
"Don't make no jokes about my clothes. When you ain't saying nothing about what adidas is doing. When Vultures song came out you ain't play my verse. You controlled. Don't play with me."
The streamer was quick to reconsider his words:
“ 'I hear you bro but ain't no jokes was being said when I first opened up that package. I showed love instantly. All I did was try on the sweats and it didn't fit. No jokes made. I immediately asked for a new pair.”
The back and forth went on for a while, and ended with West accusing Cenat of being a “pawn.”
