FaZe Clan CEO Richard "Banks" broke into tears during his address on the last day of the group's special September Subathon event, which saw many of the Clan's content creators streaming all day every day throughout September 2024.
In his address, Banks talked about the difficulties he faced in the past with FaZe as a brand and the situation he had found himself in when FaZe Holdings' share price in the stock market had gone below a dollar. Talking about the financial circumstances surrounding the group in the past, Banks explained:
"You guys have absolutely changed this whole brand... When we started having this conversation with the boys, I was f**king at the rock, rock, rock, rock bottom of my life. I was watching my company in free fall, fall below a dollar a share."
FaZe Banks reminisces on the Clan's past in an emotional address on the last day of the September Subathon
FaZe Clan has undergone massive changes in the past year, with the group being purchased by GameSquare Holdings Inc. in October 2023. Soon after, Banks regained control of the organization once more after being made the CEO. He had revealed in the past through posts on X that he never had "any sort of actual real control" over the company until its acquisition.
In April 2024, under the leadership of Banks, the organization undertook massive layoffs, with even long-term members being let go. Instead, newer members such as Nick "Lacy" and JasonTheWeen were signed by the organization. This seems to have paid off, as JasonTheWeen recently crossed over 100,000 subscribers on Twitch, surpassing the likes of Kai Cenat, Jynxzi, and CaseOh.
In his address, Banks shared what he had been going through in his personal life during the times of uncertainty with the FaZe Clan. With his voice cracking, eventually leading to him getting teary, he stated:
"Around that same time, I was going through the worst break-up of my life, with a really special person, shoutout Tyson. This girl, who changed my entire mind, my entire perspective on what it means to be a human, and to be happy... Around that time, I lost my pops, my dad... I would go back home for Christmas, and this motherf**ker would talk about it and I'd just be so ashamed of what was going on in the background."
Further, he also thanked fellow FaZe members and the viewers for helping FaZe get "back to where it is":
"And I just love you guys so much. Thank you guys so much, for helping put this sh** back to where it is. I'm so proud of this."
Banks recently became involved in a feud with members of the Cuhmunity podcast members. This came after Adin Ross was "banned" from visiting Las Vegas by them over his supportive stance towards Drake in his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar. Cuhmunity podcast members, who are supporters of Lamar, threatened Banks after he extended his support to Ross in the matter.
