Streamer Yousef "Fousey" Erakat has been a topic of discussion lately, primarily due to his permanent ban from Kick on November 4, 2024. The platform's co-founder Ed Craven noted that the streamer's behavior wasn't "good for anyone" and Fousey responded on X, initially with a cryptic message followed by an emotional apology. A few days after this, the streamer was detained at the airport.
On November 6, after touching back down in the United States after a visit to Australia, Fousey was met with US Customs law enforcement, who reportedly held him at the airport for questioning. The streamer recorded the end of his initial interaction with a customs officer who appeared to have a few queries.
In his post, Fousey claimed the officers were harassing him, and this was a situation he faced frequently:
"('How do you say your last name?', asked the officer), I don't need to tell you, you can read it, pronounce it yourself, you're so bored right now, you're smiling at me, you have nothing else to do. This is the most fun you're going to have in the next month, so go ahead and harass me. Take me to the backroom, interview me, and let me go. I'm tired of you guys' bullsh*t, this happens in every city I go to."
"Google me": Fousey lashes out at the officers who detained him
The customs officer clarified that their intent wasn’t to harass Fousey, but simply to ask routine questions. However, Fousey reacted negatively, perceiving their approach as invasive. In response to the accusations, the customs officer said:
"We're not harassing you, I'm just asking a simple question ('Google me,' Fousey responded) Alright, well good luck finding the rest of your bags, okay? Have a good day."
Fousey posted a follow-up on his account, stating that he had been stopped yet again, this time outside the airport
"OMG. They let me go just to detain me outside of airport door. They said put phone away. Call lawyer."
This isn't the first time Fousey has been caught up with law enforcement. In August 2023, he was detained after a public mental health crisis during a live stream in Miami. During the stream, he made a 911 call, claiming he was in immediate danger from an alleged threat.
When officers arrived, they found no threat but observed erratic behavior, leading them to detain him for psychiatric evaluation.
In other news, Fousey physically confronted his manager on stream, using homophobic and racial slurs in the altercation.
