Steam has crossed 37 million concurrent players for the first time ever, and Twitch star Asmongold has reacted to the feat. According to Steam DB, the exact peak figure is 37,266,324, and the milestone coincides with the first weekend after Black Myth Wukong's release.

Black Myth Wukong has received high praise from both critics and streamers, with Asmongold himself praising it shortly after its release on August 20, 2024. Of the 37 million players setting the new Steam record on August 25, 2024, over two million were playing the game.

Reflecting on the impressive achievement, Asmongold remarked on how Steam is benefiting from a game not developed by Valve, even mentioning the company's president, Gabe Newell:

"It's been crazy, Gaben wins always. It's crazy how Steam does nothing and wins."

Asmongold, who is known for his commentary on video games and streaming culture, was very impressed with the number of peak online players on Steam. After looking through the reports and Steam DB charts, the Twitch streamer clarified that 37 million was not the cumulative daily number but the peak concurrent figure:

"Look at this, record numbers. It's actually insane how big Steam is. 37[million], by the way, peak online users. So we are looking at the online now, not daily online but the current online users at this very moment."

To showcase how impressive this number is, Asmongold compared Steam and Twitch figures:

"I just want to contextualize this around Twitch. Right now, Twitch is only at 3 million. That is how much bigger Steam is. Steam is f**king massive!"

Asmongold also came across the numbers indicating that Black Myth Wukong was the most-played game when Steam reached the peak of concurrent players. When some people in the audience jokingly wrote that the feat was achieved because of another game, the content creator burst out laughing:

"A lot of people are saying this is because of Concord. (Laughs after looking at player numbers) I don't why it's so f**king funny for me to see this. Yeah, it's Concord. Concord's causing the increase. It's so funny."

In related news, Asmongold recently went viral after he claimed that the only reason Samantha Rivers, aka Rivers_GG, won the Streamer of the Year Award at the Esports Awards 2024 was because she is a woman.
