Fortnite seems to have taken inspiration from Twitch content creator Kylie "Sketch" for the new leaked in-game emotes which depict the player performing actions typically associated with the streamer. Sketch, who goes by "thesketchreal" on Twitch, often broadcasts himself playing Fortnite, alongside other titles such as Madden NFL 25 and Undisputed (the game).
There are a few variants of these emotes, including the "What's up Sketch? (Point)" and "What's up Sketch? Sketch? (Flap)". Fans of the 25-year-old streamer have been ecstatic to find out about the possibility of his inclusion into the game through its Icon Series emotes, with many of them taking to X to express their opinions on the same.
Some fans were excited to see Sketch finally potentially being given his own dedicated set of emotes (as per the leaks):
"Love this for him" wrote X user @NarumangoX
"Bro MADE IT" wrote X user @CianoToop
"He finally made it," wrote X user @wydjamees
On the other side, not all netizens were impressed, with some claiming that not many would use their money to purchase these emotes:
"Ain't no way they think we'll pay for these emotes man" wrote X user @TheJakeScape
Meanwhile, some netizens speculated whether the celebrity being featured in Fortnite, which is Sketch in this case (if the leaks are to be believed), receives a form of "royalty" payment:
"Do they get a royalty or something for these types of things? or just more of a 'hey that's cool'?" wrote X user @TigerFan1107
"Do they get paid for these or fortnite just does what they want?" wrote X user @nando17celtics
What was the Sketch's OF controversy?
In July 2024, Sketch was involved in a massive controversy after rumors surrounding his past became prevalent online. Initially, only speculations had emerged, and a particular video titled The Real Sketch: The Untold Story of Jamie Mar by YouTuber Pocketbook alleged that Sketch was an LGBTQ+ adult content creator before taking up YouTube and Twitch.
However, this was confirmed soon after by Sketch. Addressing the matter during a Twitch livestream, he stated that the allegations of his past were true. He also revealed that he had been undergoing issues with addictive substances at the time.
Since then, Sketch has often been on the receiving end of homophobic comments online. Despite this, he received support from other content creators throughout the controversy, such as FaZe CEO Richard "Banks".
In other news, Kick streamer Félix "xQc" recently claimed that Sketch's controversy was an "eye-opening" event, where he saw many individuals who were deemed to be close to Sketch try and justify his behavior or actions. xQc condemned this notion, claiming that being gay did not have to be something that one has to be "redeemed from".
