In a recent stream on Twitch, Nick "Nmplol" claimed that fellow OTK member and streamer, Matthew "Mizkif" will be taking a brief hiatus from streaming. The Just Chatting streamer discussed this topic with Emily "ExtraEmily", and Ryan "Simply", who are also Twitch streamers and part of Mizkif's community. Nmplol claims his chat told him that not only would the 29-year-old's stream be canceled, but he would also be taking a two-month break.
These claims also brought in larger conversations from fans relating to "streamer burnout" and how the streamer may be suffering from it. This was discussed within his Reddit community, r/Mizkif, in a recent post about the latest VODs being deleted from the streamer's Twitch channel.
Responding to this question, user u/appletinicyclone said:
"They were [deleted] and it's likely because he's feeling burnt out and thinks the community is burnt out too. So after Unrooted he may be taking a big break from streaming. This was explained on an alt stream."
Unrooted is Mizkif's highly anticipated video game, which has been in development for over two years now. It is due to be released on August 2, 2024.
Fans also touched on the streamer's stagnant performance and claimed that his streams' quality has dropped.
"I think he's just feeling down because his recent desktop streams aren't doing too well. He's dipping to like 12k viewers, and chat is kinda slow, lol," said Reddit user u/shadyymac.
A supporting response to this stated:
"Facts. Miz used to be the only streamer I really watched, but him being so inconsistent caused me to go find other streamers I enjoy, and he's kind of moved to 2nd monitor streamer now," said Reddit user u/epicfailz88.
There were also fans supporting Mizkif, hoping his mental health would improve.
"What do I do now? How will I spend my days, desperately waiting for [Mizkif's] streams? Due to the time difference, I watch his vods. Miz streams are the best thing in this world. Miz fan always 🙏🙏 Take care mizzy wizzy," said Reddit user u/DoubleCountry3063.
In the comments of the clip posted on YouTube, one fan defending Mizkif said:
"Lmao I actually feel bad, blud [has been] trying his best to entertain, looks so stressed and burnt out these couple weeks, but his community doesn't give a f**k about it, bro can't do anything right, people are just going to sh*t on him and dislike him because of his past, people are just going to use him these days," said YouTube user @alvianalvian64.
"He can't retire!" - ExtraEmily shocked as Nmplol claims Mizkif is taking a two-month break
Based on the clip below, it would seem that Nmplol himself was unaware of Mizkif's decision to step back from streaming for a while and was informed by his chat regarding the streamer's two-month hiatus. ExtraEmily was visibly shocked hearing this information and proceeded to message the OTK co-founder to verify this information.
Nmplol claims that his chat told him that not only would Mizkif's stream today be canceled, but the streamer would also be taking a two-month break:
"So apparently chat told me that [Mizkif's stream on Twitch] is actually canceled ('Oh really?' replied ExtraEmily). I was informed by chat this morning that not only is the stream canceled, but [Mizkif] is taking two months off."
In response, ExtraEmily, exclaimed:
"He can't retire!"
Essentially, Nmplol claims that on an "alt stream", (in this case it would be @Syn4ck on Twitch for Mizkif), the streamer claimed the cancellation of today's stream and that he would be taking a two-month break.
ExtraEmily chimed in saying that the streamer couldn't retire especially because he is due to participate in fellow Twitch content creator, Ludwig's, Streamer Games due to be held in August.
Nmplol finally went on to speculate that it may be because fellow streamer and YouTuber, MoistCr1TiKaL is also taking a hiatus from podcasting.
The official VOD from Mizkif's alt stream is currently unavailable, but fans who tuned in live state that the announcement is true. An official statement regarding this is yet to be received from the streamer.
As of this writing, Mizkif has not responded to claims about his two-week hiatus. Fans will have to wait and see if he announces any upcoming streams, but this incident has sparked conversations on the mental health of content creators, especially in the streaming world.
