Popular streamer Darren aka IShowSpeed’s European summer has proven to be quite eventful, for both him and his fans. In his latest stream, the YouTuber, who is currently in Poland, came across an excited fan who called him the “n-word,” resulting in a lot of discourse on the Internet.
In one of IShowSpeed’s latest streams, he can be seen walking the streets of Poland and interacting with fans. In one such encounter, a fan approached Speed, asking about Ronaldo.
He said:
“Ronaldo Marcello you know?”
To this, the streamer responded with hearty fistbumps and said:
“Yes, nigga.”
The fan too responded with the same. The two then proceeded to do Ronaldo’s “Siuuuu” move. However, it appears that mid-siuuu, IShowSpeed realized that this Polish man had called him the n-word. He asked him what he just said. To this, the fan replied:
“I don't understand, sorry”
The above exchange has set IShowSpeed’s fan base on fire. While many expressed shock, many made fun of how the Polish man used not understanding as an excuse for getting away with saying the “n-word”. Many even pointed out the ease with which he seemingly said it:
“He said what???” said a fan.
““I don’t understand” as a cover up is insane LMFAOO,” wrote one fan.
“Mf look like he used to saying that shit everyday 😭😭”
However, a few fans said that the fan may have simply repeated what Speed said, without knowing the connotations behind it. One of them said:
“I think he was just so excited to see you that he repeated what you said without thinking about it. Don’t say it if you don’t want to be called like that.”
“I think the word itself wasn’t meant as a derogatory term. But I understand why it’s offensive for many.”
IShowSpeed was heartbroken after Portugal's loss to France
The stream went live only shortly after Portugal was kicked out of the UEFA Euros after losing to France in the Quarterfinals. As an ardent Ronaldo fan, IShowSpeed had watched that match on his YouTube channel and was left in tears after his favorite team lost in the penalty shootout.
He also posted a picture after the match, with bloody hands and teary eyes, captioned:
“"Goodbye ronaldo"
The streamer has been living in Europe for the past few weeks. He plans to continue his tour even after the tournament and visit several other European cities.
