Twitch star Imane "Pokimane" clarified her earlier statements regarding hip-hop icon Drake, in which she criticized the musician for being signed with online gambling website Stake.com. These statements by Pokimane had led to a response from the musician himself, who had asked the reason behind the Twitch streamer being "mad".
In his response, Drake also referred to a lyric within Kendrick Lamar's diss track, Euphoria. While stating that she found the reference hilarious, Pokimane clarified that she had an issue with Stake.com, and not Drake himself:
"Guys, you know this clip is old as f**k... three-year-old clip is crazy! It really is!... Let me just clarify, I was talking abut this because you know what they do. The Stake clips on Twitter, so, I don't have anything against Drake himself, just me and Stake aren't besties. That's it. Anyway, this is all resolved and I'll let Drake know that it wasn't the braids. I have no problem with him or the braids."
Pokimane clarifies previous comments regarding Drake after the rapper responds
Pokimane addressed her old statements regarding Drake, which have recently emerged and gone viral online. These have even attracted the attention of Drake himself, who responded by stating that hearing Pokimane "diss" him "will break him".
Pokimane is known to hold a strong negative opinion of content creators gambling during broadcasts, as she believes this can be a problematic influence on the broadcasting websites' younger audiences. Thus, it is no surprise that Pokimane had critiqued Drake in the past for being affiliated with Stake.com (which shares a co-founder with Kick in the form of Eddie Craven).
However, as explained by Pokimane, the clip itself was three years old, and reflected a self-described "dramatic" behavior on her part. While talking about the matter, she also described her concerns with the possibility of her older clips being brought up in the future and stirring up controversy for her:
"It kind of scares me, 'cause it just makes me feel like, damn, anything that happens, it can just come up at any time, and now I need to be careful about how I speak in regards to any celebrity ever, because what if they actually see it."
Drake's reference to Kendrick Lamar in his response to Pokimane was picked up by the fans of the two musicians, who took to X to express their opinions on the matter.
