"I can not work with you" - Studio Head of Midnight Society reacts to Dr DisRespect's statement following recent allegations

The ongoing controversy surrounding Guy "Dr DisRespect" has seen some major updates in the past couple of hours or so. The streamer has finally come forward via his X account to publish a detailed message regarding the allegations that first came to light on June 22, 2024. The YouTube streamer admitted that he indeed messaged a "minor" (although, he later edited out the term) through Twitch Whisper.

Following the statement, Robert Bowling (@fourzerotwo), the studio head of Midnight Society (the gaming studio that Doc co-founded but is now removed) took to his official X account to write this:

"This is a statement from me personally. It does not reflect any of my companies and has not gone through any legal or PR approvals. If you inappropriately message a minor. I can not work with you. Period. I promised to only act on facts, and I did."

It's worth noting that Dr DisRespect is no longer associated with Midnight Society. The studio released a statement yesterday (June 24, 2024) announcing that they have officially cut ties with the streamer following internal investigations.

What did Dr DisRespect say about the controversy?

A lot of speculation has emerged over the past few days after Cody Conners, a former Twitch employee, accused Dr DisRespect of sending inappropriate messages to a young individual and even attempting to meet them.

While the streamer had shared some bits and pieces over this period, today (June 25, 2024) he finally shared his side of the story in greater detail. The streamer confessed to sending the messages; however, he maintains that there was no malicious intent behind them:

"Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more."

The streamer also added that he has no intentions to "retire" from content creation. He did, however, declare that he is taking an "extended vacation".

"I'm not f**king going anywhere. I’m not the same guy that made this mistake all those years ago. I'm taking an extended vacation with my family as mentioned on stream and I'm coming back with a heavy weight off my shoulders."

At the time of writing, Dr DisRespect has not specified how long he will be away from streaming. The last major sabbatical he took after a controversy (when he confessed to cheating on his wife live on stream) was between December 2017 to February 2018.
