Popular YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has shut down rumors about him launching a cryptocurrency meme coin in a post on X dated January 19, 2025. The content creator replied to a post by @cryptobeastreal that claimed he was launching his very own cryptocurrency after Donald Trump's recent announcement.
In the post, @cryptobeastreal wrote:
"MrBeast launch confirmed. I was the first to post $TRUMP and i’ll be the first to post MrBeast coin. Turn notis on. Many people will regret not following me," claimed the X user.
Owing to the YouTuber's massive fanbase, the post went viral and garnered millions of impressions on X. MrBeast, however, has shut down the rumors and @cryptobeastreal's post now has a community note linking to this reply where MrBeast denied any plans for a cryptocurrency meme coin launch.
The YouTuber said that a meme coin feels "icky" even though it could be lucrative:
"I could probably launch a meme coin and make hundreds of millions of dollars but idk. Just feels icky, I’ll pass."
Twitch streamer ConnorEatsPants, however, encouraged MrBeast to launch a cryptocurrency and claimed it was fine because President-elect Donald Trump had done it:
"if the president can do it so can you. Let me know early if you do. Love Beast Games on Amazon," wrote ConnorEatsPants.
Donald Trump recently launched his $Trump cryptocurrency and has been widely criticized for it. YouTuber Coffeezilla has called out the President-elect of the United States, calling the launch a "grift."
MrBeast responds after being called out for not helping others make money by launching a cryptocurrency meme coin
Celebrity meme coin cryptocurrency launches have been highly criticized in recent months, especially after internet sensation Hailey Welch's Hawk Tuah coin rug pull controversy from a few weeks ago. However, that did not stop some people from criticizing MrBeast for his refusal to launch a cryptocurrency.
X user @h3xum_ called out the YouTuber and insinuated that he was being hypocritical for not "dropping a coin" and claimed it would have helped other people make money:
"This guy will do anything for money and attention but dropping a coin so other people can make money off his brand is where he draws the morality line. What a f**king d**k."
MrBeast responded to @h3xum_ and expressed disbelief at being called "a greedy d**k":
"I never imagined I'd be getting called a greedy d**k for NOT launching a meme coin but here we are. What is life anymore."
Readers should note that Jimmy has been embroiled in a cryptocurrency controversy in the past after certain analysts claimed wallets linked to the YouTuber made shady transactions to earn $23 million.
