Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex (AOC) and Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's running mate for the 2024 US Presidential Election, went live on Twitch today, October 27, 2024, to play video games such as Crazy Taxi and Madden NFL. The stream was live-broadcast on Kamala Harris's official channel on Twitch, with clips from the livestream garnering a lot of attention on social media.

Before the two started playing video games, Tim Walz announced that he was a first-generation gamer and bragged about being good at old arcade games such as Asteroids(1979), Pac-Man(1980), and Missile Command(1980):

"I was of the age where Pong was coming online. I'm a first-generation gamer. I was a master of Asteroids in the arcade, the only place you could play it. The original Pac-Man, Missile Command, some of those."

While AOC and Tim Walz had announced that they would be playing Madden NFL football against each other, many were surprised when the US Vice Presidential candidate booted up Crazy Taxi for the Sega Dreamcast that was originally released on the console back in 2000.

Clips of the 60-year-old politician playing the cult classic have gone viral on social media, as AOC looked on while Tim Walz attempted to complete fares in Crazy Taxi. At one point, Walz even compared the game with GTA after crashing his taxi and said:

"Oh that is a problem. See, this doesn't feel quite as bad as Grand Theft, does it?"

AOC seemingly agreed, and called it chaotic:

"No, no, not at all. But also chaotic"

AOC and Tim Walz talk politics while playing Madden NFL on Kamala Harris's Twitch channel

Politicians have been taking a much more proactive role with livestreaming as the campaign cycle draws to an end in the US. This year has been marked by a lot of firsts with Kick Adin Ross scoring a big interview with Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump earlier back in June 2024.

While Kamala Harris herself has not yet done a collaborative livestream on Twitch, Tim Walz and AOC had planned to play Madden NFL as part of the campaign to connect with the youth. The two-hour-long stream also included some other video games such as the aforementioned Crazy Taxi and AOC playing Stardew Valley.

Naturally, they also talked about politics, with Tim Walz and AOC discussing Project 2025 and comparing it with Football tactics while playing Madden NFL on Twitch.

At one point, Walz can be heard saying:

"Why would you want the government telling you what books to read, what doctors to see, how big your family can be? That kind of stuff is ridiculous. You talk about football planning, it's the same way. You drop a playbook in football, you're going to use it. Those guys drew up a playbook, and it's Project 2025."

Bernie Sanders, the incumbent Vermont Senator, also did a Twitch stream some days ago. Sanders spoke with popular content creators such as Valkyrae, Pokimane, AustinShow, and Sykkuno with celebrity guest appearances from the likes of Mark Hamill, Mark Cuban, and Hank Green as part of the Harris-Walz campaign.
