Matthew "Nadeshot", a former professional Call of Duty (CoD) player, streamer, and founder of 100 Thieves, has been a prominent figure in the Call of Duty esports scene, contributing to its growth through both competitive success and organizational leadership. Recently, the streamer expressed some difficulties he's been facing with the latest edition of Black Ops from the franchise.
Matthew essentially claimed that the game's network, connectivity, and cheating issues hamper the gameplay experience. His frustration with the game seemingly continued to develop, and in a recent livestream, he stated that viewers can expect to see lesser Black Ops 6 content on his Twitch channel:
"I can't play it, I can't enjoy it. There's no integrity, somebody's cheating, or the network sucks or the game's broken. I'm certainly not retiring from Black Ops 6, but I definitely will not be playing it every day... I don't enjoy it enough to sit here and play it every day."
"Call of Duty, we gotta wake up": Nadeshot criticizes Black Ops 6 for its connectivity and cheating issues
Nadeshot went on to claim that Treyarch, the developer of Black Ops 6, has a more profit-driven perspective aimed at pleasing its shareholders:
"They made a great game, but they try to save money for their shareholders, for their bottom-line, for their business units, their P&L. They think nobody will notice, nobody will care, the times have changed, Call of Duty, we gotta wake up."
Black Ops 6 players have reported various connectivity problems, including frequent disconnections and lag during gameplay. Some users noted that the game would crash their internet connection, particularly on PC.
For players experiencing connectivity issues, Activision recommends playing on a wired connection, as Wi-Fi can have a wide variance in reliability and bandwidth, which can dramatically affect performance.
This is what Nadeshot had to say about the game's connectivity:
"Call of Duty has served us up a pile of shit from a network performance standpoint. They won't invest in better servers, higher tick rate servers, there's no server protections, there's no safeguards to make sure players are having a fair gaming experience."
Cheating has been a significant problem in Black Ops 6, especially in competitive modes like Ranked Play. Activision acknowledged that its anti-cheat system, Ricochet, did not meet expectations at the launch of Season 1, particularly for Ranked Play.
In response, the game's developer has implemented measures such as increasing the frequency of account bans, enhancing leaderboard monitoring, and expanding its replay investigation capabilities. Future updates to the anti-cheat system are planned for upcoming seasons, to address these issues further.
However, Nadeshot claimed he enjoyed the game's overall mechanics, and genuinely did have fun playing it while it worked:
"Black Ops 6 is actually a lot of fun. The game is fun for me to play, if it were working properly. The core mechanics of the game are fun. I enjoy the movement, I enjoy the gunplay, I enjoy some parts of the foundation of the game."
In other news, Nadeshot revealed he needs eye surgery to treat a case of Pellucid Marginal Degeneration.
