A new chapter has unfolded in the Herschel "Guy," popularly known as "Dr DisRespect," controversy, as YouTube has paused paid membership for his channel. For those out of the loop, Dr DisRespect has been in the headlines ever since Cody Conners, a former Twitch employee, claimed that the "Two-Time Champ" got banned from the platform after he "got caught s*xting a minor."

Eventually, Dr DisRespect addressed the allegations in a detailed post on X, admitting that he had contacted a minor via Twitch Whispers. He wrote:

"Were there Twitch Whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not."

Earlier today (June 28, 2024), Redditor u/cmurder2344 posted a message from YouTube on Dr DisRespect's official subreddit, informing them that the platform was pausing the channel membership feature for the content creator's channel.

The message reads:

"The channel memberships feature on DrDisRespect has been paused, so your membership has been paused. We'll let you know when it starts up again and you resume your recurring payments."

The update has garnered significant traction, with numerous fans chiming in on the situation. One Redditor said the circumstances "seemed like the most logical outcome":

"Is it not possible this message was sent to you based upon actions Doc or his team took? That seems like the most logical outcome to me, since his channel itself seems to be fine. He's going to be gone, possibly for quite a while, why would he let people's auto-renewing subs keep rolling when he's not generating content? It'd just be another thing for people to attack him with," wrote Redditor u/YojimboBIlly."

On the other hand, Redditor u/IAmKind95 stated that "everything fell apart" in one week:

"Holy s**t. In one week, everything fell apart. Insane," commented Redditor u/IAmKind95.

According to Redditor u/PSPlayer4, YouTube pauses paid membership whenever a streamer "takes an extended break":

This happens when the live streamer takes an extended break from live streaming. They pause the memberships because no one is live streaming," said Redditor u/PSPlayer4.

Dr DisRespect knew he was in contact with a minor, according to a former Twitch employee

On June 28, 2024, Rod "Slasher" Breslau provided a new update on the Dr DisRespect controversy. According to him, a former Twitch employee claimed that the 42-year-old was aware he was sending "explicit messages" to a minor.

Slasher wrote the following in his most recent X post:

"From me for Rolling Stone: DrDisrespect knew he was sending those explicit messages to a minor, former Twitch employee says, 'He indicated that this was no problem and continued on. There was no confusion.'"

At the time of writing, The Doc had not responded to the recent developments. What he says remains to be seen.
