"Is that coke?": IShowSpeed freaks out after fans throw white powder on him to welcome him to Colombia

Clips of Darren "IShowSpeed" freaking out on a livestream after fans threw white powder at the YouTuber on his first visit to Colombia have garnered attention on social media. Darren kickstarted his South America tour on January 12, 2025, with Columbia being the first country on his itinerary.

This was the YouTuber's second time in South America, and one of the first things he did in Colombia was to play baseball. While he was checking out the bat, people from the crowd near him threw white powder at the streamer. IShowSpeed immediately became apprehensive and shouted:

"What the f**k is this? What the f**k, ni**a? What the f**k?"

As the crowd cheered around, IShowSpeed continued to panic. The YouTuber even asked if the powder was cocaine:

"Is it coke? Is it coke? Is it cocaine?"

Without answering, fans who had encircled him started to bark at the streamer, who just cowered. The clip of the incident went viral on social media, earning millions of impressions. Many viewers were curious to know if the powder was, in fact, cocaine:

Others claimed that the powder was most probably something else, either cornstarch or flour:

Some fans noted that nobody in the clip was telling IShowSpeed about the powder even after he had started to freak out about it:

YourFellowArab allegedly gave IShowSpeed a coca leaf to chew in Colombia

IShowSpeed's IRL streams are very popular around the world. Just like during his streams in Southeast Asia last year, crowds formed in Colombia to meet and interact with the popular YouTuber. The streamer engaged in plenty of activities during his first day in the South American country, including showing off his athleticism by doing a backflip in front of a crowd.

He also met up with fellow content creator YourFellowArab. The YouTuber is known for his IRL content, especially when visiting dangerous places. The American was reportedly abducted last year during a trip to Haiti.

Regardless, when YourFellowArab met up with IShowSpeed in Colombia, he gave the streamer what he claimed was a coca leaf to chew. The clip of the interaction has also garnered significant traction on social media, with IShowSpeed seen indicating that he has no idea what coca leaves are:

"What is that?"

To which YourFellowArab answered:

"This is a coca leaf. This is the natural caffeine that Colombia is known for."

For context, coca is the plant that is used to extract the drug cocaine. However, readers should note that chewing cocoa leaves is not considered harmful and is a "mild stimulant" according to a 2014 report by TNI (Transnational Institute). YourFellowArab knew about the connotations, however, and claimed IShowSpeed's audience knows what coca leaves are:
