YouTube creator Darren "IShowSpeed" has once again utilized his signature backflip during a recent livestream, this time launching himself into a canal. On July 18, 2024, the 19-year-old streamer broadcasted himself live from Denmark, interacting with fans and strangers he met while exploring the country. When he came across a canal, he asked some people in the street if he could jump inside it, and was warned about the cold temperatures.
To make sure he did not break the law and possibly be fined for swimming in a restricted area, IShowSpeed walked up to a pier to make the jump. After checking how cold the water was himself and paying a man $1000 to jump into the water beforehand as well, the creator finally decided to do the jump himself.
IShowSpeed backflips into a canal in Denmark
During his time in Copenhagen, Denmark, Darren "IShowSpeed" was determined to jump into the Nyhavn Canal. Nyhavn is a well-known historical destination in the Danish capital, dating back to the 17th century and serving as a waterfront as well as an entertainment district bustling with restaurants, cafés, and bars.
IShowSpeed decided to strip off his clothes before making the plunge and made the crowd count the jump down from 10. With a boat traversing in the background and the countdown reaching one, he asked the crowd to seemingly say the "N-word" right before he made the jump, to which they obliged.
Throughout his livestream, IShowSpeed has been jokingly exploiting the Danish words "Nikker" and "Nekka," which directly translate to "nodding" and "neck," respectively. He had been using these words and tricking Danish natives into using them due to them closely resembling racial slurs when said out loud.
After making the jump, IShowSpeed could be heard screaming out loud:
"Oh! It's freezing! It's freezing!"
IShowSpeed went to Norway for the second time yesterday (July 17, 2024), giving it a second chance after his first stream there famously ended up in disaster with the streamer being caught up in a chaotic crowd.
This time around, IShowSpeed was accompanied throughout in Norway by Kristine Arntzen, a radio host and influencer. The two tried a variety of interesting activities together, such as trying to eat a fish eyeball as part of the Norwegian cuisine.
