YouTube star Darren "IShowSpeed' uploaded a YouTube shorts video desperately asking viewers to subscribe to his YouTube channel. The short was uploaded by Speed after his idol, Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo's YouTube channel rapidly gained subscribers on the platform, coming close to eclipsing IShowSpeed's subscriber count of 28 million.
As of writing this article, Ronaldo's subscriber count has reached 34.1 million, surpassing IShowSpeed's 28.3 million.
Addressing his viewers, the YouTube star could be heard saying:
"Yo, Ronaldo's about to pass my sub count. He just started his YouTube channel a day ago, I need everybody to sub up right now. I cannot lose to my GOAT, I've been streaming for four years, y'all."
"I would do whatever": IShowSpeed asks viewers to subscribe as Cristiano Ronaldo starts channel on YouTube
IShowSpeed is known for being a massive fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, often wearing clothes representing the football star and performing his typical post-goal celebration. The streamer also owns a customized Lamborghini, which features a livery showcasing the Portuguese athlete.
Within the YouTube Short, the 19-year-old streamer could be heard claiming that he would do anything to gain more subscribers on his channel so that it does not get overtaken by Ronaldo's in terms of the subscriber count. He stated:
"Sub to my channel, I would do whatever, y'all. I'd do a backflip, I'd do (barks), I'd do- please y'all, sub to my channel, y'all. Come on!"
Unfortunately for IShowSpeed, his channel's subscriber count was very quickly left behind by Ronaldo's. The streamer reacted to Ronaldo's rising sub count as part of a special live stream, which he concluded when Ronaldo's channel overtook his. He ended the stream by jumping directly onto his monitor and crashing his setup.
IShowSpeed recently met former NFL professional Tom Brady at the Fanatics Fest, which took place in New York City. As a clip of their interaction was uploaded on Instagram, Brady left a comment tagging IShowSpeed, where he stated that he might set up a "group chat" including the streamer and Cristiano Ronaldo, possibly allowing the streamer to interact with his idol directly.
